The next Star Wars movie is coming soon, and of course a lot of people are looking forward to it. Here in Norway the first people showed up in front of the cinema waiting for the tickets on monday, even if they don't start selling them before monday next week. One week with sleeping on the asfalt in front of the cinema just to get to choose between the 900 seats.

So how crazy are people in other countries?

It's pretty crazy in the US. I don't understand it. The movie will in the cinema for months, but people have to be the first to see it. It's like some kind of status symbol for geeks.
I probably will not see it at all. I thought Episode 1 sucked, and since that time, my life has changed in ways that make me stay away from anything that is overtly casual about gun related violence.

[IMG] The lining up process is not as big this time because it is not being hyped as much as TPM was.

However, hardcore fans are out there. It may be a staus symbol for some, but I've been talking to a large base of hardcore fans (SW message boards and TFN message boards) and the main reason for lining up is for fun, and expressing how much they like the Star Wars movies. And when they are in line they don't just sit there to themselves. They socialize with other SW fans in line. I know people who got married, and the first place they met was waiting in line for TPM.

I'm not waiting so early in line because there is no way I can see it on it's premiere this time. The earliest I can see it is Saturday opening weekend, but I might even have to wait until the following Monday. My brother and I will wait in line the day of, and that is good enough for me. The two theatres nearest to my puny little hometown don't even know when advanced ticket sales for opening day are yet, and what the policy will be for opening weekend. So I can't make specific plans anyway.

Theatres are going to get hit hard in May. First comes Spider-Man and two weeks later comes Star Wars.

My prediction is AOTC will make more money it's second week than its first, because when word of mouth gets out how good this movie is, even the curious naysayers will rethink their plans.

I'm not jumping the gun here. I can say without a doubt in my mind that this movie is better than TPM. And it is more along the lines of ANH and ROTJ for me. Will it be better than ESB? Hard to tell. ;) I might just have to have two favorite Star Wars films. (Of course I like them all)

Here's some visual goodies that will appear in the insert for the new soundtrack coming out next week. The pics are thumbnailed, and from there its some spoilers with some dialoug even. But don't worry, the pics do some spoiling, but still nowhere close to revealing everything.

If that link doesn't work then I'm sorry. Perhaps
George and his henchmen are at work, or jedinet.com is having too much traffic.

I remember what it looked like when Kelly Familly had a concert here for the first time... Teens camping in front of the concert hall a week before.

As for SW, I didn't like EP1 much. EP2 will air on the 16th here, but I doubt I'll bother buying the tickets for the premiere. It's not something I'll cry about if I miss it. I never could understand why Star Wars is so popular in USA.

Tal, I don't know about you nor about popularity in USA, but I'll surely try to see new Star Wars as soon as possible.

This is not the case with probably emotionally crippled too LOTR Two Towers. btw, they have a new girl there. Even uglier than Arwen and Galadriel. *shrug*

[IMG] Rumor has it that Big B has been parked outside his local theatre for 8 weeks now, communicating via satellite plug-ins since then. Don't worry, other than longer whiskers, and more potent than usual body odor, he is none the worse for wear!!! ;)
    :spin:

    Just kidding BB!!!

As forme, I want to see the movie on premier night - I've always been a big fan!!! Ever since I was 8 years old I've had dreams of piloting my own x-wing to fortune and glory!!!

[IMG] Not just stadium seating, it would be great if you could see this film in a digital theater, as this is the first film ever to be recorded entirely digitally. No doubt some will criticisize the film for it's use of CG, but is it really fair to criticisize the artwork if you don't even view it on the medium it was intended for?

Sadly, there's only a limited number of digital theatres...right now. One reason why this is big is because once again Star Wars is going in new places. Here's hoping digital projectors become more widely available in time for Episode III.

As for lines, here and here are two sites devoted to people lining up. It's cool that Star Wars is teamed up with the Starlight Children's Foundation.

Hey and even clones have to wait in line ;).
