Have any of you seen it in action? I have, and it is totally insane! The graphics are exactly like Warcraft 2, only 3D. Everything looks, sounds and acts funny, and the game just runs so smooth (though I saw it on a Athlon XP 1800+ computer with GeForce 3 and 1 GB of DDR ram). The peasants still have the same phrases from Warcraft 2, together with a couple of new ones .

Blizzard are the best.

 

Hmm.. in all the screenshots that I have seen, the game looks a bit cartoony, but maybe that is just me. *shrug*

 

It is cartoony. But Blizzard haven't said anything about a release date yet. They've said possibly this summer though (they said this winter one year ago ).

 

When the game comes out, I think I' d have to dump my poor celeron 366 along with Savage 3d (8MB VRAM) which proves to do excellent work in 2D game. Aaargh! why everything is 3D lately...

 

Hmm, Wildfire, weren't all the graphics in the Warcraft, somewhat toony? Especially with Warcraft 2?

But i must say! that game is mine when it comes out! I love that kinda stuff! Orcs, humans, life, death ...

 

Oh, there will be a $80 collectors edition box with a big Warcraft III book and a DVD with all the cinematics!

 

What's the storyline like? I've heard something about the intro starting with an orc fighting a human and then a demon comes up and slaughters both of them. Then I heard something about them having both races turn and fight the demons. I don't know if this is true, I've only heard it.

 

not sure about the story, though it should go something like this:

Night elves long ago mastered magic bla bla, summoned the legion(the ultimate bad guys). They fought them back but suffered dearly. Then sometimes later hte warcraft cames comes up. Now the legion is back by the hand of Nerzul I think. He's the lich king now and controls the undead force. The others are rallying together to fight off the legion once more.

as for the game it looks. Updates are coming out all the time so it's hard to say what's powerful and what's not.
It reminds you of starcraft in the way you control things, though you can change the resolution this time!!
And hte graphics, aaaaaah... they're just wow, nice

All the races are cool and different sorta like starcraft, though they're similar in the way of upgrades. (Town hall can be upgraded 2 times, just like war2, the way we like it )

I will be playing my first game of WarIII (Beta) tonight. Oh my god, i´m so anxious...
I think, base on what I´ve seen so far, the graphics just great.

 

I have played it for a while.
It is great, BUT.
o It is quite boring and slow after a while
o It is cartoony
o It is messy
o They have tried to make a strategy/rpg and that just don't go together. Makes it very messy
o The spells that you hero's can cast...You almost never use them, there is so much else you gotta keep an eye on
o The items are too many, or the heros inventories are too small
o Gives me headaches
o No real enemies in the beta
o Something more

That was all the bad stuff!
I leave the praising to you guys!

I just love strategy games where there's a lot to keep an eye on .
