I play a little warhammer in my spare time, but I've never played AD&D (Computer games don't count :p). For those of you who have played both, I'd like to know which do you think is better?

I think they're both really cool. I just got into Warhammer and think it's fun. But it's really hard to find time to play! The only problem with me and warhammer is the painting! I don't really have the time and patcice to paint such small people, but it's still fun. :)

I play both! I like AD&D but it's so hard to find poeple to play with. I'm playing warhammer right now with SOB. We've been at it for three hours and have about an hour to go:D I dont have the time top paint eather but I do enjoy it when I get to.

Warhammer is what I would go with.

Would anyone be interested in a Mordheim type roleplay on the roleplaing boards?

Played AD&D quite a bit at one time, we had a regular group going, altough I left after playing WFRP. Found that in my opinion to be the greater of the two, but none of us ever being especially great at creating adventures, it's unfortunately been pretty badly supported by GW. Hogshead who now have the rights are only a small operation, and GW have to vet everything - which cannot go into new areas of the world. Or contradict WFB. Which is a bit of a pain as in EiF they killed off Karl Franz :D.

  8. Well, I've seen my brother play warhammer at a shop that was specially for Warhammer games, and it looks kind of like AD&D. But preferably, I would rather play AD&D than warhammer.

D&D... far more interesting... much more possibilities, and you don't have to paint :)

For WFRP you don't. Which would be the much better comparison to D&D than WFB. Which does need a few minatures. Or improvisation.

Although my record at that game does stand with a 100% losing record.

How could one compare fairly? they are dfferent types of game. One concerns a set battle scene and the other concerns a character living his life through various actions etc. and building himself up.

    Which appeals more? AD&D

Both are pretty complatcated if you play by all the rules. But both are fun to play. I like D&D because you can customize you charater to suit you. Warhammer is fun to play because you see the pices's that are on the board&thier cool to paint to your own desin.

Any one have any tips on how to paint your own flag? I use my own desin, I just dont know if theirs any other ways to paint it on execpt to do it by hand very very carefully.

When I read the topic title I assumed you meant Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying system not Warhammer the tabletop game with loads of little minatures. Judging from the response it also seems that many of you are unfamiliar with the Warhammer Fantasy RP system.

I have played lots of WFRP, a little of D&D 2nd edition and a little of D&D 3rd edition. My take on it is that WFRP is a far more satisfying system to play. There is much greater scope for developing unique charcaters with unique skills (yes I know 3rd edition allows more flexability but it's still basically, fighter, mage, thief, etc). It also seems easier to create a more believable world (though DMs and personal preference affects that greatly). My biggest bias though is due to the combat system which seems much simpler and quicker to use in-game than D&Ds approach.

I suppose what it comes down to is that, for me, the D&D rules seem to get in the way of good roleplaying whereas the WHFRP rules seem to encourage it.

If you want to know more about the system take a look here:

I see I wasn't very clear...I meant Warhammer in general, including all of the forms (Fantasy, Quest, 40k, etc). Sorry to confuse everybody :(

[IMG] I wasn't confused. Anyway I think Warhammer is better. Plus I have several friends that play too. It's hard to find the time to paint but when I do it's really fun!
