    I am planning to take this party through Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal (when I get it). I have the weapons that I thought about using for them during SOA and TOB. Where I don’t have either SOA and TOB written I will use that most of the game. This is only what I have planned for my party. I would like some input on what weapons and armor and all of the equipment each one should be using during parts of the game(early SOA, Late SOA, Early TOB, Late TOB) and also whether to have an elven or Halfling assassin and also whether to have a Stalker/Cleric or a Cleric/Ranger. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I know it is a lot of writing and thinking to do, but maybe u could just write about one of the characters if u don’t want to write about all.

    Protagonist: Human Monk*
    Weapons: Scarlet Ninja-To(when fists aren’t very powerful yet) and Fists

    Elven Ranger-->Archer*
    Weapons: Short Bows-Tuigin +1(sp?), Tanesheron, and Gesen
    Melee-?

    Elven Sorcerer*
    Weapons: Staff of the Magi/Staff of the Ram
    Sling of Everald +5

    Elven or Halfling Thief‡Assassin
    Weapons: Not sure (I thought about dual wielding some type of bladed weapon or wielding one and being able to switch to a crossbow or shortbow when needed)

    Human Stalker/Cleric or Half-Elven Cleric/Ranger
    Weapons: SOA-Mace of Disruption +1/+2 and Flail of the Ages +3; TOB-Runehammer and Flail of the Ages +5

    I haven’t decided whether I wanted a dual classed Stalker/Cleric or a multi-class Cleric/Ranger……….any input would be welcome

    Human Paladin-->Inquisitor*
    Weapons: SOA-Carsomyr and Heartseeker (halberd maybe also); TOB-Carsomyr(maybe) if not, then Dual wielding Foebane and Purifier or wielding one of them with a good shield.

    I will have the Item upgrade mod installed along with tactics, Freedom's Reign and Reign of Virtue
    Also if you know of any good item packs that I can download and there is a good weapon or equipment in there i will consider it

    *-I am definately having this character

    Sorry if I spelled anything wrong, I don't have either of the games installed(I don't own TOB yet, it just came out for the mac)

    Thanks for All Your Help!

    (I know there are alot of other threads about which weapons and equipment to use, but i have looked and have not been able to find one that was asking about the same party's equipment as I am)

    For a TOB party, this is in the wrong forum.

    That said, I don't have much experience with monks, so I'll not say anything about that.

    If you've got Tactics and the Item Upgrade mod, consider taking an evil aligned party, swap the Pally for an Anti-Pally, Combine Caromsyr and the Soul Reaver for the Unholy Reaver and voila. On her own, the Anti-pally is like an Inquisitor with Caromsyr. She'll still have True Sight, Dispel Magic on hit with ANY weapon, and she's just cool...

    For an Archer, I'd take one of the better long bows. Gesen isn't bad, but carrying ammunition isn't that inconveniant esecially with the Quivers and Cases and Bags of Plenty in TOB, and if you've got improved golems, which IIRC comes with Tactics, you're sure as heck not going to be using it on Adamantium Golems, so that takes away one of its biggest advantages. As for a melee weapon, either use a two handed weapon, or put points into single weapon style. Alternately, consider using the Archer Fighter kit. Very similar to what you have, but with fighter health and weapon usability, both good and bad.

    The sorcerer looks good, but I honestly pay almost no attention to my mages weapons. If my tanks, buffer chars AND their spells arent enough, then a better staff or dagger probably won't help much either.

    Stylistically, I'd give the Assassin either a dagger, or a short sword. I'm not a big fan of dual-wielding, but, I'll admit that dual daggers would probably be pretty cool, again, especially with TOB weapons. Actually, I think I might give that a shot...

    As for the next guy, weapons look fine to me, but I'd definitely go with multiclass. I think, and anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that most people would agree that, in general, dual class is better in SOA, but that multiclass blows it out of the water in TOB.

    When all is said and done though, chances are that any party and equipment configuration you enjoy will be playable. So have fun, and don't take whatever you decide as set in stone. Don't be afraid to try something new and unplanned. That's what is, IMHO, the best way to play BG2, or any RPG. Anyway, hope this helps. Have fun. :)
