I'm hurrying to Spellhold to get Kivan's romance going. This means no side quests to get weapons (Nalia's to get FoA, Slaver house for Celestial Fury, etc.). I'm having trouble remembering what +3 weapons are on the way there.

I know I can get a cleric staff, the bone club, a +3 spear and Skullcrusher mace. What about short swords? The only one I can think of is short sword of backstabbing from Renal, but I haven't done that quest.

Normally, I'd collect +3 or better weapons before leaving Amn, but I want to romance Kivan and I haven't seen anything of him complaining about Tsujatha or Anomen *yet* (the latter have been complaining about each other :) ). I'd rather avoid having to choose amongst the 3 since I know how bad it feels to get the big No.

I think the Short Sword of Backstabbing might be the only +3 shortsword in SoA. The best shortsword you can get without completing any quests is Arbane's Sword +2.

I think you can pick up a two handed sword in Spellhold...but I'm not sure of the enchantment...it might be +2.

As for short-swords...I don't think there's anything good apart from that one sword...

Looks like my main tank, Yasreana, is stuck with Arbane's and her 2 mod short swords. Thanks for the info.

You can get Lilarcor, a chattering two handed sword +3. This are in the sewers of Cooper Coronet.

If you have ToB installed you can go and buy the Short Sword of Mask from the morons outside Watcher's Keep.

Hmm...I would have mentioned that, except Kuemper said she was not going to do any sidequests...if she WAS going to do sidequests to pick up a weapon which isn't too far out of the way, there's Daystar, Short Sword of the Mask, Dragonslayer, that halberd you get when you do the Unseeing Eye Quest, Celestial Fury etc etc etc...

I was replying keeping in mind that she was asking for weapons specific to the route to Spellhold only.

But it doesn't take a side-quest to get the Short Sword of Mask. Just a short trip down to WK; you don't have to actually do anything, and it takes maybe a minute. There's always just ripping of Renal too (enter, pick pocket, exit). But that seems to be the limit; the only +3 or better short swords in the vanilla game are SSoB, Cutthroat, and SSoM, with plain +3s showing up in ToB.

If you've got the money, the bonus merchants are chock full of +2s and +3s (if no short swords).

I've never actually been successful in pickpocketing Renal, even with a pickpocket skill of 250!!! The only way I got the sword properly was to actually do the quest and refuse the guild...

There's some assassin who teleports in and hits you for unstoppable damage. There is NO WAY to legally pickpocket him and get out of it. CTRL+Y doesn't work on that Assassin who teleports in either...

I didn't have the money to buy SSoM anyway. I haven't been able to PP Renal either. I do have Lilacor, as that was the quest I did to get the 15k for the boat trip.

I checked again and Yasreana's swords are +2 for one and +1/unknown vs. undead and regenerating creatures.
