I know it's horrible to think about, but it seems almost certain, that something horrid will happen... so many Islamic extremists... What if something happens every september 11th from now on. Or what if they wait till the 12th and everyone's relaxed?!!! Oh god it's all so horrible Do you guys think anything will happen?

They said yesterday that the Taliban is stretched all over Europe, and there seems to be alot more activity... Apparently Germany is thick with them.

If you start panicking without reason, the terrorists (and not islamic extremists, generalization of such things is ignorant) achieved what they wanted in the first place.

And stop watching "sensational breaking news!". Taking speculations on things as truth is your worst enemy. Go rent some nice movie and watch it, go to basketball, play something, do whatever you want, just don't panick for god's sake.

I expect Sept 11th to be the safest day of the year. I even purchased an airplane flight for that day.

AND, I am way more worried about our (US) gov't and their plans than any terrorist at this point.

 

Z, you sound a bit paranoid. I mean, why would things happen every 11th of september. Why not every day?

Personally I don't think anything will happen. Will just be another day of the year.

 

You can't live in fear. Just have to face life (and death) as it comes.

And no, I don't think any group of real terrorists (as opposed to unorganized wannabes) would attack on 9/11. Too obvious. Threats will be foremost on many people's minds and security will be tighter than usual. Like was said earlier, the 12th would make more sense.

 

I'm not too worried...I agree with scarampella - Wednesday will probably be one of the safer days of the year now. Unfortunately, terrorists working in small groups can do damage anywhere at anytime, America just needs to remain vigilant.

I have concerns about our plan to attack Iraq. I get the impression that our possible future actions against them is a result of our decision not to get rid of Saddam 10 years ago. If that's the case, I can't really support something like that.

True, Saddam is a vicious dictator who rules Iraq with an iron hand. He most likely is continuing to produce/research chemical, biological, and nuclear weaponry. He probably also has given support/aid to terror cells that wish to do the U.S. harm.

With that said...I haven't seen any concrete evidence that Iraq or Saddam have actively participated in any of the terrorists attacks, nor has he come out and said that he supports them in any way. Sure, he's a bad guy and the world would be a better place without him - But I don't think we have a reason to go after him now.

The U.S. made a decision during Desert Storm not to depose Saddam because the potential power vacuum resulting from it was worse than having an enemy you know in power. I think we should do more covert operations to ferret out terrorists wishing to harm the United States, rather than going into Iraq to settle an old score.

I tend to lean towards the hawkish side when contemplating military action, but I also think that the cause must be just...And this one smells fishy!

Finally, if things are so bad in Iraq - Why don't the PEOPLE rise up and depose him?!?!?! America was founded by a people that became fed up with unjust rule and took action to realize a destiny...One Nation under God, INDIVISIBLE, where every citizen has the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness! If you want it, I think you need to earn it!

I hope nothing bad will happen on septembre 11th... but dawm... I'm working in the Montreal's world trade centre.

A lot of people at the office think they would call sick for wednesday...

me, I don't know yet... depends on how I'll feel about it when I'll woke up on that day... lol

 

Wednesday happens to be my day off. I plan on making sure all TV's and radios in the house are off.

Thanks Extremist, I hate many people's generalization of Islamic people. Not all muslims are terrorists, and the media, especially CNN report incredibly biased versions of any news events.

I hope wednesday will not be another disaster in any country. There is no need for provoking war, but everyone knows that the Bush administration wants it. Finish off daddy's work

 

Of course all islamic people are terrorists. Just as all germans are nazis, all russians are commies, all balkanese are bandits (and evil !!! / ) and all south africans are white racists. However, it becomes confusing when you have a white racist, communist russian terrorist

Ok, everyone just needs to relax. I work for the FAA in Chicago, IL, one of the biggest and busiest airports in the US. I am not remotely worried about anything happening.
Besides if one of those towel heads do get on the plane, I think that there is not one red-blooded american that wouldn't kick the living sh*t out of him/them.
I think that probably goes for the rest of the world to.
It is going to be just another day, but with a little more meaning then most.

 

I don't think they'll do anything hasty. The Al-Qaeda would probably let the whole thing blow off first, then they start to move. That's how the terrorists here work anyway. I wonder what kind of fiasco their cooking up now?

Incidentally, I have a friend who celebrates his birthday on Sep. 11. We're sending him a World Trade Center cake!!! He thinks its Osama's gift for him.

 

Towel heads? That's the exact thing Tal was talking about in his on goings on topic. That's a very racist statement ya know. Many Arabs are against Europe and America but millions arn't.

They sure as Hell haven't been issuing any public statements to that effect. The best we can do is Yasser Arafat giving his (reportedly tainted due to medication) blood for WTC victims in order to make up for the bad publicity received when the media caught Palestinians celebrating in the streets on Sept. 11.

And the use of "towel heads" isn't right. Not all Muslims wear towels on their heads. Although that's exactly what the ones in Guantanamo Bay are using for head gear. The guards drew the line when they started trying to use bed sheets, though.

 

*sigh* I don't understand how incredibly unaware people can be.... yesterday, at the GH, I asked several people did they know what day today would be. Not a single one of them knew! All they said was along the lines of "Wednesday" and "Cleaning day" heck, even when I said "Airplanes, skycrapers, anniversary, ring a bell?" the answer was no.

I felt so ashamed for these people....

On another note, I am og the froup that is going to be very, very careful tomorrow, and probably the next week also...
