    Hi All,

Well part of what I am asking has probably been asked before, but I've only just signed up on sorcerers.net sooo....

    1) The Original Saga 3 cd set ? Yes I know it was fully patched, and I never bothered to download patches off interplay for it, but do I still need the DirectX 8.x patch that's mentioned on the interplay site ?

    2) Due to TotSC being installed as part of BG1, and I've got through the original saga once with a paladin, but going through it again, but I'm curious after you kill Sarevok, will you be taken to Ulgoths Beard automatically or do you need to do something special ? When I played it with my paladin, I did all the BG1 stuff first, and before the final battle, I went out and did all the TotSC stuff, cos I didn't think it would automatically move me to there. So does it move you to there automatically or not, is my question ?

and finally 3) Just after an opinion, on equipment ? I'm actually going through with a mage this time, and my party is the following:

    Me(general mage)
    Khalid(fighter)
    Jaheira(fighter/druid)
Imoen(Thief -not planning on dual classing her)
    Ajantis(paladin)
    Branwen(cleric)

As for why I didn't take Minsc ? I didn't really want a second mage, and I don't really believe in killing party members off accidentally.

Anyway, to get the mage's best ac is what I'm curious about. The gauntlets of dex went to Ajantis cos he had the worst dex out of everyone in the party, and is running around with -5 ac due to ankheg armor. So on my mage I have the mage ring(fai), an amulet of prot +1 (beregost), robe of good archmagi(high hedge).

I was looking at the folling two pieces of eq also for sale at high hedge:
    claw of kazgaroth
    horn of kazgaroth

Both are expensive even with 20 rep, like the robe of the good arch magi.

Problem ? Claw is ring eq, and is cursed and drops your con down by 2, and adds +4 to your save v death save, i beloieve, but gives -3 to all other saves and +1 ac, and a few other effects, including missile saves or something similar of -4 or -5, which means with high ac and that bonus its' very hard for archers to hit my mage. I was wearing a ring of infravision i think or a ring of prot +1 i dont remember which, but is the con penalty and the penalty on save v death for the claw worth it ? Overall the mage's ac is currently -1

As for the horn ? well that's neck, and gives the same ac bonus as a amulet of prot +1, but if I went and wore a cloak of prot, i couldnt wear the amulet, but I know I could wear the balduran cloak. So again, if you don't use the horns special ability, which at the moment takes -10 hps off my char, when i use the ability, is it worth the money and the cost, given I probably wouldn't be using the abilities, which is full protection from level 1 and 2 spells ?

Other than that, any thoughts on the best eq to give a mage ? I think the best ac I will be able to give him is going to be -2, if i give him the cloak of balduran, or -3 if i give him the horn of kazgaroth and cloak of prot +2, when I eventually find it. True it's not important to have your mage have decent ac, but it's useful if it's the main member of your party.

Last thing, I assume there's no magical throwing daggers anywhere in BG1? I don't remember if I came across one or not, when I went through last time. I know when I eventually get through BG1, there's a dagger of returning in BG2, that my mage will use. The mage is using the +2 dagger from outside the nashkel mines, which I really ought to have given back to the spirit, but I couldn't be bothered :D

Anyway, any questions or opinions on anything I've asked would be greatly appreciated.

    Jechor.

[IMG] With TotSC installed you can acces the new areas during the game, and the game still ends when you kill Sarevok.
I don't think that there's any magical throwing daggers at all in BG either. As far as mage eqipment goes, slings and staff's worked pretty well for me, with the rodes of archmagi as a beginning for the rmour, even if i had to buy them.

Whats the big deal? There is so much money in this game that buy the end you could probabky retire comfortably in Duchel Palace if you wanted to...
So my advice, buy it anyway and see if you use it

Aikanaro is right there is so much money that by the end you will be able to disregard price, so just buy what you think you might need. . .
