What does it mean when a save is made?

    When certain things happen to you (like Dragon's breath or death magic) you have a small chance to avoid some or all of the effects. When you make your save, you have succeeded in avoidance.

    As far as I remember, it means that your character has to make a D20 roll against his/her respective resistance. For instance, if your character is hit by a dragon's breath, he has to roll with a D20 over his "breath" resistance (e.g. 12) in order to avoid/reduce damage.
    I hope I got it right. It has been quite a while since I played PnP D&D. Anyway, hope it helps.
