I'm confused on how this weapon works. What does all of that mean? What/who are Xachrimos & Ur Gothoz & Azothet? I'm guessing they are devils and demons? Where are they found & how does the sword "Trap" them?

Abyssal Blade +3 (+1 Dex, -1 Int, +5 vs good, +1d4 fire damage) - Xachrimos
    - empowered 1: (+5 dmg vs devils) - Trap Ur Gothoz inside
    - empowered 2: (+5 dmg vs demons) - Trap Azothet inside
    - empowered 3: (+5 dmg vs devils, +5 dmg vs demons) - Trap both inside
These empowerment options are mutually exclusive

    Spoilers :
Ur Gothoz and Azothet are demons featured in Dorn's personal questline - Ur gothoz is his patron granting him his blackguard powers, Azothet another demon and a rival of Ur Gothoz.
During the quest line you get the option to defeat and absorb the essence of one or both of the demons inside the Abyssal Blade - depending on which option you chose, you will end up with only one of the three variations.
Xachrimos is the demon you have to defeat to gain the (unupgraded) blade in the fist place.

Obviously, binding both of them gives you the best version of the blade, though you do miss out on some other potential loot.
If you only bind Azothet and spare Ur Gothoz, he rewards Dorn with a helmet :
The Visage: (+1 Thac0, +1 saving throws, Immunity to feeblemind, confusion, fear and charm, Domination 1/day, Breath Acid 1/day (6d6), not usable by good)

Also, if you bind both of them, Dorn will lose all of his blackguard powers. (though he will still be able to gain the Summon Fallen Deva HLA.)
If you want the best reward, sit seems like dealing azothet and going along with Ur Gothoz is the best option - even though you don't get the 'best' version of the blade, there are better ones out there anyway, and at least you get to keep Dorn as a blackguard. The Visage is also a pretty great helm, though you'll probably want to put it on Viconia/Jaheira if you are taking one of them along, instead of on Dorn.
