After the news got out that Uday and Qusay, Saddams sons, were both dead, thousands of Iraqi's took the streets in Baghdad and celebrated in their own tradition, firing their firearms in the air.... and killed over 30 people in the process, and leaving more than 80 people injured in a hospital.

I mean, don't they know that bullets which go straight up, come back to haunt you faster than you think ? I thought the Iraqi people were called upon to bring in their weapons for safety measures ?

Btw, i've been looking for an English news source to provide a link, but all i found was a Dutch news site, so sorry, no link yet. Maybe someone who has heard about this can come up with a link ?

 

Well, if it's an old tradition, it propably started in an rural area, were the danger would be less. And in the last decades, they hadn't much to celebrate and no chance to think about that. So now they have to accustom to living in an urban area.

And getting them to give up their weapons. Ahm, I don't think that would be easy. Just another old tradition, they have weapons at home propably since always.

 

Ahh, traditions. Don't ya just love them? Who knows where they start. When it first began there could be little danger ans Yago said. But, the ignorance does not surprise me. There seems to be more and more every day.
