[IMG] Mine is 'Spancil Hill', and has been for seven years or so. There has yet to be a version that would cover the whole spectrum of it's awesomeness. :)

    How about yours?

[IMG] Don't think I have one in particular. Probably between Godsmack - Straight Out of Line, a couple of Disturbed songs and a couple of Lamb of God songs.

That would be George Harrison's Here Comes the Sun.

If I could mention a piece of music, it would be Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, K581. :p

The Motorcycle Song -- Arlo Guthrie

    It's just brilliant.

It was late last night the other day
I thought I'd go up and see Ray
So l went up and I saw Ray
There was only one thing Ray could say, was:

    I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
    And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy...cle

This song is about the time that I was ridin' my motorcycle.
Going down a mountain road, at 150 miles an hour, playin'
my guitar. On one side of the mountain road there was a
mountain, and on the other side there was nothin' - there was
    a cliff in the air.

Now, when you're going down a mountain road at 150 miles
an hour you gotta be very careful, especially if you're playin'
a guitar. Especially if that guitar is an acoustic guitar.
Because if it's an acoustic guitar, the wind pressure is greater
on the box side than on the neck side, because there's
more guitar on the box side. I wasn't payin' attention ..

Luckily I didn't go into the mountain - I went over the cliff.
I was goin' at 150 miles an hour sideways and 500 feet down
    at the same time.

I knew it was the end. I looked down, I said ''Wow! Some
trip". I thought it...well I knew it was...I knew it was my last
trip, and in my last remaining seconds in world, I decided
to write one last farewell song to the world.

Put a new ink cartridge in my pen. Took out a piece of paper.
I sat back and I thought awhile. Then I started writin':

    I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
    And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy ...cle."

I knew that, it wasn't the best song I ever wrote, but I didn't
have time to change it. I was comin' down mighty fast.

But as you all know, and as fate would have it, I didn't die. I
landed on the top of a police car. And he died. I drove away
on the road that he was on. I came into town at a screamin'
175 miles an hour, playin' the motorcycle song.

I came into town, I jumped off my bike, the bike went around
the corner by itself, went up on the stand by itself, turned
    itself off.

I walked over to my friend. He was standin' there eatin'
pickles. I said "Hi, what's happenin'?" He looked at me in the
    eye and said "Nothin'".

You gotta sing it with that kind of enthusiasm. Like you just
    squashed a cop...

    I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
    And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy...cle

This is followed closely by 'Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues' by Todd Snyder...

    hey, hey, my, my
rock and roll will never die
hang your hair down in your eye
    you'll make a million dollars

well i was in this band goin' nowhere fast
we sent out demos but everybody passed
so one day we finally took the plunge
moved out to seattle to play some grunge
    washington state that is
    space needle
    eddie vedder
    mudhoney

now to fit in fast we wear flannel shirts
we turn our amps up until it hurts
we've got bad attitudes and what's more
when we play we stare straight down at the floor
    wowee
    pretty scary
    how pensive
    how totally alternative

now to fit in on the seattle scene
you've gotta do somethin' they ain't never seen
so thinkin' up a gimmick one day
we decided to be the only band that wouldn't play...
    a note
    under any circumstances
    silence
    music's original alternative
    root's grunge

well we spread the word through the underground
that we were the hottest new thing in town
the record guy came out to see us one day
and just like always we didn't play
    it knocked him out
he said he loved our work
he said he loved our work but he wasn't sure if he could sell a record
    with nothing on it
i said tell 'em we're from seattle
he advanced us two and a half million dollars

well they made us do a video but that wasn't tough
'cuz we just filmed ourselves smashin' stuff
it was kinda weird 'cuz there was no music
but mtv said they'd love to use it

the kids went wild, the kids went nuts
rolling stone gave us a five-star review said we played with guts
    we're scorin' chicks, takin' drugs
then we got asked to play mtv unplugged
    you should have seen it
we went right out there and refused to do acoustical versions of the
electrical songs we had refused to record in the first place
    then we smashed our ****

well we blew 'em away at the grammy's show
by refusing to play and refusing to go
and then just when we thought fame would last forever
along come this band that wasn't even together
    now that's alternative
    now that's alternative to alternative
    i feel stupid and contagious

well our band got dropped and that ain't funny
'cuz we're all hooked on drugs but we're outta money
so the other day i called up the band
i said boys i've taken all i can
    shave off your goatees
    pack the van
    we're goin' back to athens

and Tim Wilson's '100 Things to Remember'

I had a crazy uncle that was on his deathbed a long time ago,
he said "BOY... there's a hundred things in life every man needs to know to
survive... and here's 39 of em'"

never bet the ranch on your prostate
if it's got an adams apple its prob'ly a man
never trust a gay gypsy with the palm of your hand

she didn't accidently get good in bed
you can't join a church if your already dead
a work uniform ain't totally nude
    brim and bass ain't seafood

when theres guns in the house one better be yours
don't be naked next to any fishin' lures
if there's girl scout cookies she's a little too young
if you say I do... be the ugly one

don't ever let a bald man borrow your comb
never play strip poker in a nursin' home
don't blame your pall bearers cuz they don't show
if your buried in the middle of the super bowl

let people borrow money they'll leave you alone
never fry bacon without a shirt on
never spray water on a hornets nest
a woman rarely aces the driver's test

the sign prob'ly don't really mean massage
    never threaten anybody in camoflauge
say you love her 'til she lays down the butcher knife
never put the move on the bosses wife

she's messin' round on ya if yer briefs don't fit
never trust a hitch-hiker to babysit
Cosmo's never in a happy home
you can't cut a deal with a kidney stone

a politician ain't got an HMO
washin' her hair means she don't wanna go
don't ridicule a biker bout' his tattoo
you been married nine times... hell maybe its you

Doom ain't the same as donkey kong
if he's wearing high heels you mighta raised him wrong
the clinic ain't the best place to pick up dates
don't rent a room from a man named Bates

a tank tops never on a billionaire
Stevie Ray Vaughn missed a note here and there
how many get to heaven no one knows
but hell will be asses and elbows

and then he died... crazy fool rolled over and DIED! and never did tell me

It's a tie between Louis Armstrong's What A Wonderful World (although Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version is such a nice one) and Cindy Lauper's Time After Tme. Loved them since I first heard them... and that a long time ago.

Nine Inch Nails - The Great Below

I tend to tie up music with books/manga/comics, whenever i'm forced to read them in computer versions instead of solid paper. The Great Below ended up being listened along with Dune series by Frank Herbert. It made for a wonderful fit. At least, it fits together for me now, after listening to it for hundreds of times while reading Dune. Although most music stays shelved along with their respective literature, this one escaped direct equation and stands on it's own now.
    Definitely my favorite.

I initially thought that choosing one would be fairly easy. But when I thought about it for a bit longer I came to the conclusion that it is impossible to pick one as the favourite song of all time. Although any Dire Strait's song and Uriah Heep's Lady in Black would probably be high on the list.

Damn, this is a tough one. I can't pick one song.. I could write a massive list of my favourites though.

    ...Dammit, I can't pick one!

Edit: RHCP - Californication has to be high on the list.
Edit 2: So does Radiohead - Just.

I've been thinking about this question for weeks! With all the great musicians and artists we have (had, rather), I guess there is no possible way for me to choose one. But there are some songs that come to mind. Most of them are jazz-songs, some are soul or funk. Others are artists my old man and my brother used to listen to (Simon & Garfunkel, Alan Parsons, Dire Straits, The Police etc).

Still, I'll have to decide. I love songs with some wisdom, probably about overcoming hardship, being happy with what you got or enjoying the simple things in life. (What a wonderful world, feeling good etc.) I guess I'll take

"Ain't got no - I got life" by Nina Simone Preferably live in Paris, 1968
