[IMG] I know now why people want to emigrate from their countries; back in Argentina, where I used to live, we see news from BBC or CNN and we see how wonderful is living in Europe, we don't see none of the "local issues", we only see "the big picture" like wars or elections and things like that; back in Argentina, we live every little problem, like people complaining about this and that thus everyday we found out that every single person has something to complain about and can do it even publishing it in the newspapers or calling the news channel to put it in the 8, 12, 16 and 20 news show.
But life is not that easy so here in Spain I have the same soup, I got to see the same report on Friday morning, then at night and then in the 4 news reports at Saturday and Sunday.
Ok, the nature of the complain can be 'very' random, so today I'll let you know just 2.

    - Few days back there was this car advertising, in the advertising you could see people "inventing" stories happened while they were traveling in their cars like some people making fantastic jumps over trees to save a deer from two hunters; that was enough disgrace to make a complain; hunter's organizations did enough lobby to make the car company take out of tv that advertisement.

    - This is great; there is this contest known by every european (I guess):Eurovision; the other day we 'selected' our representative (4 night shows where we get to see every contester's life and hear their songs and where people send SMS to vote to them) and the winner was Son de Sol, 3 girls who sing a song called Brujeria; some of the lyrics say something like this: "there's no cure for this soul of mine, I only wish your hot body and your look like a burning fire which gets into me (this has double meaning because they use a word that can mean also penetration) and it's turn me into the object of your witchcraft, you dominate me by just looking at me and there's no need of ropes to tie me, I'm a wild animal that even if the cage doors would be open, never escapes because love."
That was enough disgrace to make feminist organisations that the song is sexist and can not compite in an european contest, they demanded that the lyrics were changed but they didn't get any. So they go around news shows and newspapers complaining about the song.

I wonder what this people do for living, they are 24/7 around just doing that: to complain.

I thought everyone knew that we in Europe complain because we are jealous ungrateful arrogant and insignificant cowards who instead of doing hard work to improve our economy just sit in the corner and remember how everything was better on the good old glory days of Europe when everyone bent to our will, and complain to the rest of the world when they won't listen to our greater wisdom that we've aquired by conquering the globe and then beating the hell out of each other. :shake:

Those are the old Europeans, but seemingly it's a common thing when one grows old. I as a relative youngster can honestly say that I couldn't care any less.

I hear a lot of complaining about:

    • High taxes. Which is true. In worst cases almost 60% (!) of your income is lost to taxman.
    • Tight regulations. Everything requires at least master's papers, finding your own company is difficult, shortcuts are ruled illegal, and then government complains of people not doing well enough.
    • The lack of jobs. On the other hand some companies complain of lack of employees in areas like construction and manufacturing. Which is funny when considering how crappy the hours and pay is.
    • Poor healthcare and long waiting times. Graduating to a doctor takes about 7 years, long hours and difficult exams, so no wonder, but again the government refuses to listen.
So yeah; a lot it and with a good reason too.

You are? I thought people from my home country were pathological complainers. We can complain about almost anything - but imo when it comes to low wages, corrupt politicians and general s..t the country is in, we have some right.

Well, there seems to be a lot of moaning about an ex-premier who just died with people wanting to protest at his funeral ... 20 years after what they were protesting happened. Seriously people, isn't the point of protesting to change something...?

The moaning about Bali wanting to execute all our drug smugglers is fair enough, however...

We complain about not having enough government services. We also complain about our taxes being too high. Five points to anyone who can detect the irony.

I think that's the case everywhere. We've got a general election on at the moment, so at least once a week there's a "vox pops" where they ask someone whether they'd like lower taxes; answer "yes". Then, they immediately follow it up with "what about improvements to public services?". Almost always, it's another yes... :shake:

Hmmm...well, here in UT there is a lot of complaining about:
    • The high gas prices - which aren't as high as other states, or other countries.
    • The rain and snow - even though we've been in a drought for the past 7+ years, people still complain about all the rain and snow we've had this year.
    • The crappy drivers - even though all Utah drivers suck -- thankfully, I am not one of them, and never will be.
    • Mormons complaining about all the bars and clubs.
    • All other religions complain about the lack of bars and clubs, and the "beer laws" here.
    • And just about everything else.
People from Utah, specifically those who were born and raised here, like to complain about *everything* that’s not to there liking. This is a very small, uncomplete list... :bang: :rolling:

To expand a little on Splunge's post

We complain about the quality of people who we have to choose between in our elections. Yet we also complain about how these politicians are paid too much despite the fact that they earn less than 10% of what the top managment of most major corporations earn. Is it any wonder that no one who is competent wants the job?

As a related point, we complain about how much these corporate executives earn and demonize the large corporation, and yet no one complains a bit about the fact that there are many owners of small businesses who earn just as much and generally pay their workers quite a bit less than a larger corporation would. Instead these small business owners are seen as the poor disadvantaged little guys.

We complain that the government isn't doing something to encourage our doctors to stay in Canada instead of moving to the States. They do so because they can earn a lot more money in the U.S.A. Yet we complain about the added tax burden if the government suggests that we pay them more. We also compain if anyone suggests that we allow doctors to make some extra money by offering non-publically paid medical services.

We complain about the level of excess bureaucracy in the civil service (and to a lesser extent in large corporations) yet we also complain about it creating unemployment when anyone is ever laid off.

We complain about welfare being too generous, too easy to obatin, and too costly - yet we complain about the plight of those who live under the poverty limit, about the lack of subsidized housing, and presence of the homeless within our cities.

We complain about the price of gasoline being too high despite the fact that we pay a hell of a lot less than most people in Europe and a huge chunk of the price is taxes which if revoked would require the government to get the money from some other source.

    Literally everything.
Unless it can climb a tree and hide somewhere out of sight within 30 seconds it is an issue worth our while to seriously complain about. But it better be something involving money, lest we move on quickly in search of another plight to lament.

how can human be satisfied? You can live in the best time in human history and you can still see people complain about every little thing (every little thing, ELT by the way is a japanese band). That's just nature of human. We cannot get away with desires, which motivated us to do things; we cannot get away with complain.

Barmy - quit moaning about being a moaner.

In NZ, I think it is the opposite of what Sydax was getting at with his initial post. All we get in the news is bad news about what is going on in the rest of the world with wars, murders, torture, tsunamis etc. It makes me want to stay home!

But, people still complain about the same sorts of things as other countries:
    - "politicians are useless"
    - "tax is too high"
    - "give me more money"

Looking at these posts I'd say we all have a lot in common.

    Politians are corrupt.
Prices are too high for just about everything.
    Taxes are too high.
    The government doesn't do enough.
My neighbor is a nut case.
    Telemarketers!

To add to Splunge and JSBB's complaints about Canada.

Our politicians are corrupt and inept. They syphon off huge amounts of money for themselves and their cronies, give tax breaks to their corporate friends. They use taxpayer money on stupid **** like a poorly thought out gun control legislation that only screws the law abiding citizen (maybe they're afraid of an armed revolt). Meanwhile, that's a few billion every year that could be going to create jobs, fund healthcare and education, or pay down national debts. As a result, we complain about unemployment, difficulties in Healthcare and deteriorating education...

And in the last election, none of the main parties was worth the paper the ballots were printed on. As a result, things will continue to suck unless the people we elect can stop acting like spoiled children and try to govern the country. But no, they want all the power so that they have up to five years to embezzle every dime they can out of Canadian taxpayers...

That and we complain about being next to the Americans...

Yes, the complaints are about the same everywhere. But I think you should be appreciative of the services you have in your countries. Until you have lived in a third world...oops not PC...underdeveloped...still not PC...ah, developing countries, believe me, you'll be thankful for what you have at home.
