First: new dress code. no Suits, no ties.
second: play the games for at least 4 hours a day so you understand what you are selling.
third: rushed/bad/buggy games an decrease in payment for managers.

I'd sell it and use the money to buy an island
    or
I'd give charge to someone wiser

(no difference between those two, just another way of saying the same)

Sell the company and buy a pub.

First two are good, but I think pink slips for number three. Put Gillotines in high traffic areas reminding people that if they make crappy or buggy games, then heads will roll...

Bring in all the people who made Fallout, BG, IwD, Ps:T and Arcanum. Shift priorities to make 2d isometric RPG's, all other projects are cancelled or put on hold.

Make a Fallout game with the same or a slightly modified engine, that covers the whole world. Disk space doesn't matter, it'll be on DVDs and you can use the absolute minimum disk space installation, like in the original games.

Make a game like BG or Ps:T, that covers several places, like Kara-Tur and New Amn, and perhaps some other planes.

@Bahir the Red: And go bankrupt, what, instantly?

Atari's horrible, but under the Atari flag are some excellent games - of which none use isometric view.

The problem is the isometric games don't sell.

I assume they have an ample sum of money to spend. Once the games are completed and released, I would not care how things go. The important thing would be to get the games out.

Sell it, buy an island, get a huge, dark mansion built on it, and live a secluded life of darkness and tranquility.

Actually, that's not too far off the mark. I would get into the nostalgia business and find some way to do something with all those old games that made Atari so huge in the first place. To me, Atari means Space Invaders and Pacman played on your TV screen with a joystick.

So, Bahir... get what you want out of Atari, and then let it go to ruin, pissing off millions of people?

Hmm... now why does that sound familiar?

2d is a thing of the past. 3d is the only way to go these days.

Fallout 3 on a 3d engine would be great, especially if they used the Fallout: Tactics type game mechanics.

More importantly I'd remove all deadlines for games, release them when they're DONE, not according to a calender. It is why Blizzard is so successful, they never keep to release dates.

Well what's the point of this thread if the answer you expect goes something along the lines of "keep it running as it is, change nothing and live in mediocracy ever after"?

Of course, there is probably no way in hell that I would ever come to be the owner of Atari, but if it did happen, I'd be damn sure to follow *my* ambitions, and not those of a bunch of businessmen who suck up to twelve year olds by putting 60 percent of their budget on graphics and graphic related things, 39% on marketing, and the remaining one percent on story and the rest.

The Atari of today is totally different than the Atari of the 2600 and 7800 days. That Atari company is long-dead. This Atari is a sub-company of a French game publisher called Infogrames, which published such games as Alone in the Dark, RollerCoaster Tycoon, and Civilization.

This Atari is also not in very good shape as a company, and wouldn't want to be something that any business-minded individual would actually want to own.

Atari a.k.a the old "Infogrames?" Easy, I would create a job for myself as a senior game-designer and design 4-8 games during the years. Episodic RPG 2D -fashion, 3D FPS offline and online, mainly concentrating on the visuals, story, and in-game mechanics. I swear, I would make better games than majority of today's factory-line companies while reaping more revenue from the sales.
