What was the first PC game you ever played?

I was thinking back to "the good ol' days" of computer gamming, and I got to thinking...so to cure my curiosity, tell me...what was the first PC game you have ever played? And just to date yourself, what OS was it on...if you can remember that far back?

For me, it was Oregon Trail, and IIRC, it was running on a Pre-Windows 95 machine that had a 'turbo' button that if pushed, would raise the CPU speed up to around 400MHz! Amazing! That was back in the early 1990's at my old elementary school. After that my computer gamming died off for awhile until the release of a cool little game called Warcraft came out. Since that day, countless people have tried to get me away from computers and computer gamming...they have all failed.

 

The first real 'game', as in not Solitaire or Minesweeper was probably Wolfenstein 3D at a friend's house. Or Might & Magic IV at my cousins'.

 

Baldur's Gate. I sh*t you not.

I played that game for positevely days. I was on a yogho yogho high then, drank it by the gallons

 

Hmm probably desert strike (round a friends), though possibly we had played granny's garden at school before. Outside of school it would probably have been desert strike, lemmings, or a game which involved two gorrilas throwing bannanas at each other across a skyscraper landscape: One hit to win and then onto the next random map. Choose angle and power. Basically scorched earth with gorillas. I don't know the name though.

 

Either Sopwith or Paratrooper, right before Digger, Alley Cat and Sierra's King's Quest.

I too am a child of 'Oregon Trail', from the old school computers. I think everyone in North America that was born in the 80's has played that game.

 

My first would have ot be the versoin of asteroids on my older brothers computer when I was around five or six, after that day no one has gotten me off computers.

 

Wolfenstein 3D, or Street Rod - basically NFS underground with yesteryears graphics, except for the fact that this was nice to play

 

X-wing. When my parents bought a PC, I got that bought for me as a present to play.

 

I can't rightly remember! I was playing PC games before Wolf 3D came out so it was quite old. Possibly Hero's Quest.

On a side note, shouldn't this be in the Playground forum?

 

Must have been that minefield game that always comes with windows. Most likely 10-8 years ago.

 

Commander Keen, on windows 3.1...and I still have the game but running in XP now!

 

Either Wolfenstein 3d, or maybe the original Duke Nukem. Either way it was on Win 3.1

 

Methinks t was called "over the Rqinbow" and the goal was to shoot raibows and get to the big rainbow before you drowned....

wait, that was on Commdore (as was that gorilla game, too.... I remember it )

on PC proper... can't recall what, but the OS would have been Win 3.1 (yes, .1 - no fancy .11 for me!)

 

@Arabwel, I don't know if it was on commdore but I played it round my friends and it was a dos game so maybe it was around for both?

 

Prince of Persia!! The really old, dinky one!!

That game was soooo good!!

 

It was; I distinctly remember it being on Commodore, since I kept trying to make my mom play it with me

 

Diablo. It's what got me hooked on gaming.

 

Some old golf game from the early 80s (RGB color, Wow!) played on an ancient Epson Equity running DOS and no hard drive.
