[IMG] This latest plan crash in my country has left many more peices. I think that it is some thing that needs not happen. I am not only affected by this latest crash but I am worried about how this will affect our world. If plans keep fallig from the skies who's to say that plains will every fly again? And if this keeps happening pretty soon thier will be no one to fly the plains. I think that flying will in the next 5 to 10 years become noexsitent. I'm sorry that I never got a chance to ride in one:(

Until we find a better, alternative mode of transportation, planes will still be used. Planes have been crashing since they started flying, nothing new there.

Yeah, planes have always had the nasty habit of crashing. The only problem with recent crashes is that they were more or less deliberate, something the early ones weren't.
Oh, and there is really no better alternative, and people are still willing to take the risk. So don't worry mr. DragonRider, you'll probably have your chance...

As mentioned, hijackings, bombings, and general crashes have occurred fairly regularly since aircraft have been in existance. Not as commonly, on a percentage basis, as with automobiles, but still regular. The only real difference in this case is that it A) took place in the US and B) they used the plane as a bomb.

People are going to be leery of flying as long as their is an "active" terrorist risk, but air traffic will eventually resume its normal course. The risks associated with air travel are simply too small compared to the benefits.

The latent recession following the bombings of september 11th has hit the airlines much more than the crashs themselves. Just read Air-International - they are cutting jobs and grounding airliners wordlwide ....

Some airlines have stunbled into deep financial trouble the last months (like swissair, LTU and some) for they were making losses due to the breaking-in market.

However, nowadays there is no alternative to flying for many people - so we'll fly on for the future.

A Norwegian airflight company was just declared bankrupt, and it was bought up by another company here which now covers almost everything in national air traffic.

Well, many of Europe's airlines were in bad shape long before the terrorist situation. That market definitely some consolidation, but many airlines (like Belgium's Sabean) were being propped up by their home countries. The EU's new rules made that illegal, so you can expect a bunch of those carriers to go under even if air travel instantly returns to its previous levels. I don't know the specifics of your Norwegian airline, though.
