What's a good tank for insane difficulty?

I was just messing around with various characters and they seemed to get hit much easier on insane even with decent acs like 18-22ish.

I don't want to make a JUPP character or a really powergamed character, so what would be a good tank with that in mind? Or should I just focus on a lot of disabling spells and mages since the monsters hit so hard and frequently on insane?

Don't have only one character tank, it's better when enemy fire is distributed among your party. Fighting enemy groups is more effective when your whole party attacks the same one. The best tanks are summons, it doesn't matter when they die.

Make sure to have a druid, barkskin grants a high AC bonus for the whole party, the level 7 bard song stops enemies and the level 11 bard song grants AC, DR and regeneration.

Another option are characters which can cast the overpowered mirror image spell.

Monks can be pretty handy (excuse the pun). IIRC, at higher levels they ignore the first few points of damage dealt to them. I could be wrong though

[IMG] I'll put another kipper on the BARBie:lol:
But IMO you should keep the barbarian single class, so it gains access to the passive bonuses at high level: Damage Resistance and Greater Tireless Rage.;) And don't forget to buff him; he works better with a strength boosting spell/item, Stoneskin, Barkskin, and maybe Cat's Grace. Take a level fighter if you must wear heavy armour, but only take 4 levels after level 20/21.
