[IMG] What is the most lacking NPC class? I think its a thief. We have Yoshimo, Nalia, Jan, and Imoen...lets see...one single, two duel class, one multi, please, if I am missing an NPC than correct, Yoshimo is an excellent thief, that you cant keep, Imoen has pathetic hp, and is a duel into a mage so her thief abilities are limited, its the same for Nalia, Jan is the best choice in my opinion in the long run, but I think a few more NPS's should of been in the game, it is the same for Mage, but not as bad, because you got Edwin and such. We have two Rangers in the game, and both of them rock in my opinion. What do you think is the class that needs an NPC (besides Sorcerer and Barbarian) and what race? I think their are to many humans. Minsc, Valygar, Edwin, Nalia, Imoen, Sarevok, Keldorn, Anomen, Yoshimo, and I might be missing a few (this is just off of the top of my head) I think the NPC's could of been a little more diverse, but hey, I still love this game so much, this is just a thought, I'm not really complaining because people make MODS that add NPC's, but hey? Why not have more NPC diversity? Oh! and before I forget, one dwarf, one halfling, one gnome, well, off of the top of my head anyways....

  2. Hm... I'm pretty sure there aren't any "lacking" NPCs, as long as they are there. Of course, it's not lacking NPC classes, it's lacking NPC skills. But to answer your question, we do not have Wild Mages. Elf, half-elf, or human.

I think that 3 thief/mages is too much for one game. Imoen should have been converted into a mage or should have stayed a plain thief Personaly I think a good-aligned fighter would have come in handy and maybe a monk.

    quoting the manual:
'Humans are the predominant race in Faerûn. Humans rule most of the significant empires and kingdoms in the Forgotten Realms.'
So I guess it's normal that most of the NPC's are human

what comes to mind is there are no monk NPC's. i personally think they are very characterful and would make a great NPC class. while on the subject, does anyone know where you can find the balthazar portrait?

I had the most trouble finding a thief since they didn't have any "pure" thieves only thief/mages.

I think a pure class thief -Yoshimo 'abandons' you very early in the game- is most needed in the game.

And as for the races, I would like to see an elven NPC (Xan, I miss you)

[IMG] Yup, i have to agree there. Thankyou for Tiefling, and the Gnome too why don't you?
Those two are what saved me from boredom in BG2.
Anyway, back to topic; I'd love to see a Halfling NPC, and a real halfling at that. I mean, how stupid would you have to be to only make ONE Halfling NPC, and at the same time make her Lawful and a Paladin!?
    :flaming:
And as noted above, a pure thief would be good, although I think they did a pretty good job with Yoshimo though. They point was that he was Neutral, willing to join you regardless of Alignment/Personality. He was a thief (and a bounty hunter at that), so that when you reached Spellhold, your Thief/Mage should be a decent enough thief to get you through.
So look at the big picture instead.
    :p

    Well... I think:

They should have included at least one half-orc (preferably a barbarian), a pure theif perhaps, and maybe a sorcerer and a monk too.

As for races, I agree about the elves. None of them were really that elven, i.e. (the parts I find most rediculous are capitalised ;) )
Viconia is not much of an elf, she is an EVIL cleric of a HUMAN god, yeesh.
Aerie is no great elf, a LAWFUL GOOD, SOPPY, WHINEY TWIT :D :D :D .
Jaiheira is the most elven one of them, even though she's half human, she seems to match my picture of what a real elf would/should be like.

Just to clear things up, here is what I think makes a good elf:

    Alignment: CG, NG, CN, TN
Class: wizard, ranger, druid, bard, clerics and fighters to a lesser extent maybe a rouge too.
Personality: cunning, carefree, witty, aloof, patient etc.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with some unusual elven characters, I'm just saying they should have put some that more fit the above parameters...

    PHEW!!!

If you are still reading this now, I thank you for listening to my long, bizarre rant, I guess I just have alot to say about elves :D.

    Cheers, Void

They should have more "pairs" like in bg1. Wouldn't it be cool to have a pair of 5 characters? if so, they should be:

Sorcerer, Inquisitor, Berserker, Fighter/Mage and Thief/Cleric... Imagine the possibilities...

    (Powergamer Side)
THEY SHOULD ALSO HAVE A LEVEL 50/50/50 WILD SORCERER/INQUISITOR/ASSASSIN TOO, BUT HE SHOULD BACKSTAB YOU LIKE SOMEONE WE ALL KNOW AT SPELLHOLD!

Definitely thief. Imoen should have stayed a thief, it suits her character more (although she would've made a fine bard). As someone mentioned there are far too many mage/thieves in the game; imoen and nalia are practically the same, and what's more cannot develop their thief abilities any futher. Alora would've been fine for this game. Even Yoshimo, if you could keep him for more than 4 chapters. The next NPC mod should be a thief character instead of *another* overpowered fighter/mage type.

"Wouldn't it be cool to have a pair of 5 characters" you do know that 'pair' means 'two' right? You can't have a pair exceeding two. What you mean is a 'group' of 5.

Anyway. Everyone agrees the game is lacking thieves, however you would't need a 'pure' class thief, maybe a fighter/thief. I'd like there to be a 'good' dwarf and the lack of half-orcs is bemusing.

I'd like to see a Dwarven Fighter with a good alignment (as they're listed in the Monster Manual for all editions of D&D). I'd also like to see an Elven Fighter-Mage, and a Half-Orc Fighter-Thief.

    I guess I'm just a sucker for icons! :)

Imoen is quite sufficient. There's hardly a lot of difficult traps. Besides, you can walk your paladin over it and it makes one big puff, solving your problem.

Nalia, however, is not a thief/mage. She's a mage with 4 thief levels. It fits her story and there's no reason for her to have any other class.

    There's no barbarian.

    There's no sorcerer.

    There's no fighter/mage - classic old-school destruction machine.

There's no romance option that would be elven on priestly

A mass-destructive fighter/mage or a cleric/ranger ubercaster could possibly make an interesting romantic match for a Bhaalspawn wannabe.

When they have finished IceGate, it'll be taken care of easily. Totally up to you multiclassing. Want Immy a fulltime mage? Have her so. Want a pureblood thief? Sure. On second thought, fighter4/rogue(x) isn't a waste. Or a ranger level. A whole new touch to Immy, isn't it? Even if I have warm feelings for her BG2 incarnation as it is. Heh, a 3E wizard can afford several thief skills, especially if he has rogue class skills maximums.

There isn't a decent good-aligned standard fighter, which would be nice. The best fighters are all evil.

Also, there is no combat-thief like Coran was - I really miss him from BG1. I suppose Valygar is a sort-of combat-thief but he can't detect/disarm traps.

I would like to have seen another Dwarven character, maybe a LG Fighter/Cleric. I think clerics are quite poorly represented in BG2.

    More elves or half-elves.
