    [IMG] Some time ago, I had major problems re-installing IWD and HOW. I've played them already, plus TOL, so I ddin't mind and just cleared my PC of all things IWD or even BI. So, recently I wanted to install it again for old times sake. I can install IWD fine. When I try to install HOW, I have to do it manually from the menu on the CD instead of click "install". OK, no prob. But, when it starts to "install", the "uninstall wizard" takes charge and claims to uninstall the game and I can't figure out how to install it again. It goes straight to the uninstall every time even though its not on my PC.
    Does anyone know what's up here? How can I resolve this? Also, IWD 2 better be for real.

    I don't think I'll be of much help, but I'm guessing that the uninstall isn't removing some entry in the registry or some other indicator that tells the installer whether it's installed or not. I wouldn't know where to tell you to look though.

    I find it strange that the installer won't let you choose to reinstall it, and only gives you the uninstall option; but hey I didn't make the thing :)

    Sounds like you need to reformat/reload your system drive too.

    Do this way (don't know if it works in Win 98/ME though, it works in Win 2000):

    Start --> Run --> regedit

    Then search for heart of winter, icewind dale or anything similair. Delete what you find. Then install.

    [IMG] I'm pretty sure I tried to uninstall first when this first happened, then tried to install and it uninstalls twice in a row. Its really weird. Something ain't right in there. Not really a big deal, I don't plan on playing the game again, but it would be nice to know I could. Over the winter break I'm sure to be playig one of these games, but I'm actually leaning toward BG1 again...

    Have you tried the regedit?
