When can you go to the Cloakwood at the soonest?

[IMG] Do you have to get involved in the Bandit Camp thing before you have access to the Cloakwood?

I need a few NPCs in the Cloakwood and I don't want to wait half the game to get them.

You must finish chapter 3 until you get access to Cloakwood, so you have to complete Bandit camp quest first.

Yeah you can't get Coran or Veslick until you enter the Cloakwood in chapter 4.
Which means you must clear chapter 3 first.
The only real hard guy to kill in chapter 3 is the guy with the Full Plate (great AC for low level guys). But when you do you get it for yourself! :D
Try using a charge from a wand of frost to soften him up. Be careful!!! Don't use more than one! If you freeze him solid then you lose his items! :(
Reload a few times if you must to get it right.

Thanks for your suggestions, Ace, but I have played this game before. I was just wondering about the question I first posted.

Anyhow, there are a whole bunch of NPCs in Cloakwood; Yeslick and Coran as mentioned before; and Eldoth and Faldorn and maybe more. Since so many of them are in this area, doesn't it mean that they should be good since they come so late? But how come they're not so good? Why would anyone get them?

The two I mentioned are strong.
    Coran has 20 Dex for a fighter/thief.
Veslick is ok as a cleric/fighter. Wisdom = 16 Con = 17 Strength = 15 Dex sucks but give him the gauntlets of dex = 18.
The others and those in Chapter 5 (BG city) don't stand out to me at all.

But variety is the spice of life they say. ;)

Farthy, they should be better, but they are not (well, Coran and Yeslick are good).

IMHO joinable NPCs, which come avaible at chapters 4 and 5, are the most useless NPCs in the game (Skie, Alora, Quayle, Tiax, Eldoth...)

I've just randomly explored the map at times and if I recall, you can just go to the north edge of the map, for example, and whatever section is north will appear for you to enter. Can't you do that with this area or is it only certain areas you can do that on?

I've tried that with Bandit Camp, but I couldn't move north from area south of it. So, I went to Nashkel Mines and cleaned it and when I came back, it was possible to go in Bandit Camp.

Certain areas will only "open up" as you advance in the story. Bandit Camp and Cloakwood are the only two I believe. Unless you count Werewolf Island and the other place in TotSC...
