Where is the Helm of Glory?

It's been a long time since I played a cleric. I've started the Unseeing Eye quest to get Keldorn and now I want to pickpocket the Helm of Glory. I went to Helm's temple to do just that, and the little priest dude ain't there! The quest was given to me by Lathander's temple, so is the helm on someone there? I would rather pickpocket it than CLUA it. Jan is strafing at the confines of 3 LG goodie-goodies.

 

Whoever gives you the Sir Sarles/illithium quest should have it. Since you're working for Lathander, there should be a guy in their temple. I'm not sure whether he's there before you finish the Unseeing Eye quest, or if you actually get a different reward from him than his counterpart at the temple of Helm.

 

Well, Dawnmaster Sain gave me the Sir Sarles quest. Jan pickpocketed everyone in the temple and no one has the helm. I'll see tomorrow if I get it as a reward.

 

I thought you might not get the Helm of Glory if you're not associated with the Temple of Helm.

I could be totally wrong, though.


BTW, is it possible Baldurdash Fixpack won't allow it to be pickpocketed (preventing you from getting two of them)?

 

isnt it a reward for one of the temple quests, you get several options to choose from ring of holiness, helm of glory, armor of faith, something like that

 

No matter what class or alignment I play, I always find the HoG waiting to be transfered into my possession in the temple of Helm... waiting on that Helmite to the right upon entering. I dont need to accept or finish a quest or some such for it to be there. Nor does Baldurdash prevent the theft - in my games...

 

If I'm not playing a cleric, I get the quest from the Helmite dude. I've stolen it thousands of times from him before even getting the Unseeing Eye quest. Maybe Lathandarians and Talosians are better at keeping their pockets locked.

 

if you are not a cleric, yes a helmite guy will approach you, if you are a cleric
good = lathander
neutral = helm
evil = talos

 

I completed Sir Sarles' quest and talked to Dawnmaster Sain. He gave me 1,000 gold, 20,000 XP and a Periapt of Life Protection. No helm.

 

Unseeing Eye cult is no more. I got +1 rep., 47,000+ XP and 8,000 gold. Still no helm of glory. I am highly annoyed about this. The temple quests are put off until I get back with Imoen.

 

You won't get it if you're playing a priest of Lathander, Kuemp. You only get the Helm from the, er, Helmites. You'd have to be playing a non-cleric class, or a priest of Helm.

 

That is plain silly.

But thanks for saying so so I don't need to bother about worrying over getting it.

 

So what do the Lathander and Talos people get? Because I'm working on a Priest to import as a Lathander Priest myself.

 

IIRC, the Lathander people get offered a choice of the Ring of Holiness, a Staff Spear, or some type of armor. I've never played a priest of Talos, so I don't know what they get, sorry. Something evil, no doubt.

 

For my cleric of Lathander, I got a Periapt of Life Protection for the Sir Sarles quest. There was no choice for me for Sir Sarles or the Unseeing Eye quests.

I reread Dan Simpson's walkthrough (aka the BG2 Bible ) and he does mention getting a staff spear, armor or ring of holiness - for being a Helmite priest.

 

I think I see what's going on here. I've been playing my last few run-throughs with EoU multiple stronghold component. I always play a good character, so it identifies me as a priest of Lathander when it comes time for the Unseeing Eye quest...but it must default to the Helmite choices if the PC isn't REALLY a PoL. I don't really recall what I DID get the last time (VERY long ago) when I actually played as a PoL, but I'm willing to trust both Kuemper and Dan Simpson.

Funny how EoU doesn't make the Helm available for non-PoL's for the Sarles quest, though...

On second thought, I think I DID get the Helm from the Sarles quest...at least, I don't remember getting a Periapt. I wish I had a saved game near that point so I could check for sure. I know I HAD it in my last run through, but I'm not sure whether it came from EoU or another mod.

 

Well, just to add my bit, I got the helm of glory from somewhere else. The harper hold. Downstairs just before you get the harper amulet it's in the (trapped) side wall.

 

Tak, unless you've got a mod that changes it, that should be a Helm of Charm Protection in the Harper Hold...or Helm of Defense, I forget which. But no Glory!
