where is the place to acquire more level ups?

well guys,im almost at the end of this game,im currently in middle of chapter 5 now,in the dragon's eye,but my characters are only in level 17..

 

hate to say it, but thats about normal for a six person party. the experience is spread around among each player, thus less for each one. finish this game, but next time, take two or three or even one.

I'm in the beginning of chapter 6 and level 16!

You will acquire more level ups in HoF, probably...

 

Even solo I only made level 27. (28 after getting the xp for completing, but then of course it just went into the end game stuff).

 

Heh, I was doing anything I could find (good-aligned way) and only reached (effective) level 16 with all my characters.

 

Hope that with my four 12-levelled characters I'll reach the cap... Certatinly hope so... I am at Chapter 3, right now at the moment...

 

I think bang is trying to say to finish the game and then do it all again with HoF mode on.

 

I'm in chapter 2 now and level 10 or so.
Until now i had 5 member party but now i kicked one out so that leaves 4 now.

But this ismy first go at IWD2 so i expect i havent done all the quests.

 

I found myself in the same place as you are Copenhagen... coming to the end of the game and only lvl 17 or so. I ran into a wierd bug (at least I think that is was a bug) in the Magma Chamber where I couldn't get the Fire Salamanders to do the play for me... although I generally save religously in different slots... my last save at this point in the game was quite a ways back.

Getting to the point... because I really wanted to get these characters as close to lvl 30 as possible, I decided to view the bug as an excuse to export them all and start over in HoF mode. So.. if you want to get your characters to uber high lvls, but you don't want to sacrifice all the fun of working a full party as you go through the game.. I'd recomend starting over in HoF mode. This has been great fun for me... and since I still haven't finished the game, there is still an element of uncertainty to the plot.

HoF mode can be tough, even with very high lvl characters, so this plan isn't for the faint of heart. I'd recommend at least two powerful healers (I have a cleric and a druid in my party -- which works quite well).

5 books, 10k exp each.. If that's not Enough.. Rinse, And Repeat.. ^_^

(Note: That's Not really Cheating, SO Much as .. Exploiting.. I think there is a certain degree of Difference.. ^_^ )

 

Well, if you're going to go that route, you might as well save yourself some time and use DaleKeeper II to add 10k xp to each character's total. This would technically qualify as a 'Cheat' rather than an 'Exploit', but there is such a fine line between the two that they aren't really all that different.

 

Ending the game with level 15~17 is perfectly fine. Since the game uses Challenge Rating system, you can't really find a place to get much XP. Because the more you level up, the less XP you get. Now, ever heard of "squatting"? Don't level up a particular character to boost the C.R. so that you get more XP from every kill. But anyway, the only way to get to level 30 is to play HoF with level 15~17 characters.

 

The Challenge Rating System is broken in my opinion. It is just silly that some of the huge battles in the game will yield no xp. The mobs you are fighting might be lower level than you, but when you have to take out 35-45 of them I'd say some xp is in order.

Fortunately, there is a cool mod available on this site that ensures that you get at least some xp for each kill. I'm too lazy to find it and link it, but its not hard to find .

I use that component, because battles will be very boring, if you don't get any experience from kills (yes, I think that even 20 points is much better than nothing)

 

How come everyone seems to have difficulty levelling? I completed my first game at lvl 28 full party. There were 2 level 29s and the rest were nearly that level.

 

Care to share your secrets? I finished the game with a full party and did around 90% of the quests and my highest character was 18th level. The only way you'd make 28th/29th level is if you played in HOF mode or cheated.

wouldnt it be easier to use the in-game cheats to level up than having to use DaleKeeper 2?
