Now, I have a slight problem. I have taken this girl out on a few dates, and we had fun. The only problem is, is that I am running out of ideas for dates.

Our first date was to the movies, and second was bowling, and my town really doesn't present any obvious third dates. I lack imagination when it comes to these things, so help me out.

    *NOTE TO CHEV*
Only post date ideas here. No posting about how love is futile or some such nonesense. Focus!

LAN party!! If not that, an RPG session. If she doesn't like that ethier, find a new one. ;)

Honestly, my g/f doesn't like anyone of those, so I'll just shaddap now.

Or rather, more seriously, find out what SHE would like to do.

*sigh*Dating is futile. Gotta love the way here in Sweden. Ethier you are together, or you're don't.

Are there any comedy clubs in your town? Can you find a place where there's some jazz or other live music being played (note: not major concerts, just a nice jazz or blues band)?

You can certainly ask her for input.

Alternatively, if the weather is reasonably nice, you can have a picnic somewhere, which can be pretty fun and is a change on the normal night-time nature of a date.

Jaguar, do you actually read any of my posts? Love is the best thing that can happen to you and dating is one of the best ways of passing time so long as the other person isn't totally random. I don't know where you got the nonsense you posted in your opening post.

    • A good old-fashioned picnic
    • Swimming pool (aqua park if available)
    • Lunapark
    • Old ruins
    • Bowling game
    • A game of chess in an elegant cafe
    • Whole night dancing
    • A night cemetery walk
    • Some remote place with lots of space and a CD or tape player - dancing outdoors rules
    • If either of you has a free house, you can get some wine and good music and have a two-player D&D session without a DM ;)
    • If you're into mediaeval stuff like some roleplayers, you can practice fencing
    • Quake deathmatch. Well, really.
    • Some rollerskating or ice skating
    • Gardening, painting... whatever more or less productive thing you can do together
    • Botanic garden should be a good idea with most girls
    • Zoo can be cheesy, but it's a nice one, as well
    • Pretend you aren't an MTV teen and take her to a theatre or opera; she will have an opportunity to dress up as an added bonus
    • All those ethnic restaurants work if you have no better idea
    • Museums and art galleries work with some girls
Finally, you can join together and seek enlightenment :shake:

Home is the best place but it depends what you want out of this girl, don't be silly and take her out every next night, that will just burn a nasty hole in your pocket so why not stay at home and that way you'll get want you want and it wont cost you a penny. If you must take her out and spend money then go shopping, it is something girls never tire of.

I like the idea of the blues or jazz club. Kind of dark and the music is not usually overpowering. Good conversation and some frosy libations. The woman may actually believe you are truly interested.

Yeah, but it's like buying her attention. I mean, sure, it's nice to go shopping with a friend or friends, possibly your guy or girl, but hardly with a new date. I am the old-fashioned kind of guy that pays the bill, and I don't mind friends asking me to pay for a round if they can't really afford it, but shopping on me as a pastime is never an option. I stick to this rule firmly and it has never given me a reason to complain. Whenever you use money to impress a girl who likes it, you have yourself to blame if she sells herself to a higher bidder.

Now I will go through chev's list in order posted with my answers.

    - A good old-fashioned picnic - Snowing
    - Swimming pool (aqua park if available) - Allergic to chlorine
    - Lunapark - Don't have any
    - Old ruins - Don't have any
    - Bowling game - Been there
    - A game of chess in an elegant cafe - Possible
    - Whole night dancing - Can't dance, and all there is is country dancing
    - A night cemetery walk - Snowing and illegle
    - Some remote place with lots of space and a CD or tape player (dancing outdoors rules) - Snowing
    - If either of you has a free house, you can get some wine and good music and have a two-player D&D session without a DM - She isn't a nerd like us
    - If you're into mediaeval stuff like some roleplayers, you can practice fencing - I'd probably kill myself
    - Quake deathmatch. Well, really. - I was saving that for the 10th date (Don't wan't to go too fast)
    - Some rollerskating or ice skating - The first is down for repairs, but the second has possibilites
    - Gardening, painting... whatever more or less productive thing you can do together - Now that you mention it, there may be something that we can take together, like an art class
    - Botanic garden should be a good idea with most girls - Don't have one
    - Zoo can be cheesy, but it's a nice one, as well - Don't have one
    - Pretend you aren't an MTV teen and take her to a theatre or opera; she will have an opportunity to dress up as an added bonus - There aren't any shows on right now at the theatre, and we have no opera. And I resent that MTV teen comment. I work in the theatre.
    - All those ethnic restaurants work if you have no better idea - How much chinese, greek and italian can one guy eat? (and by Italian, I mean Pizza Hut)
Museums and art galleries work with some girls - I suppose it is worth seeing what they've added recently

So out of the list, I have: A game of chess in an elegant cafe; ice skating; painting, pottery, ect; theatre or opera; and, museums and art galleries.

Well, it is worth a shot. Thanks chev.

Oy, about taking a gal shopping: Window shopping is great for those times, and you get to say "Yes, it looks good on you" and "No, your butt does not look big" and "Of course I will carry your bags for you"

    :p

Ask her, she'll probably say "you choose" then say ok, but next time it's your turn. Saves you one initiative.

Rent a film and invite her over earlier so you can make dinner together and make popcorn for the film. You could even go shopping for food (for dinner and for during the film). I don't really see that as buying her favours.

Even the possibility of a food fight arises. ;)

Definitely go for the shared dinner idea, right from the grocery store to the washing up. If you need ideas for the meal, try this .

Yeah, neither do I. My reaction was quite strong, though I didn't intend to imply that any kind of expense is buying favours and bad. Just when someone expects favours for a gift, especially one bought on site. Especially if both persons see it as barter. It's a kind gesture to offer some meal if one invites someone to his house, and a full dinner shows that one cares. Caring to get something a bit more expensive than usual only reinforces the feeling and doesn't imply any kind of buying... unless someone is really sick and will use anything to get the other person obligated. But those sickos don't typically get anything else than alcohol when they invite a girl, anyway.

How 'bout BJ in the park and then dumbing her? :p

Naw, seriously though; does it matter if you both can have fun just by being together? AFAIK, some people claim that their brains lock and lose all coherence of time when they see someone they "love."

But if you really need some entertainment, try some innocent, little video-games you can play together. Sugary-sweet "Mario Party" springs into mind -and it is supposed to be perfect for something like that... As a bonus, you can cook a dinner ready too.

I wasn't being ironic, or trying to attack you, chev, just stating that that would be going shopping without the "buying (sexual) favours" connotation :)
