wow, im going krazy with all these topics. ;)

well i like the sorcerer more but i think that the Mage gets more picks/slots for higher level spells...any MUST have spells when going solo with either one of em?

Sorcs are better imo, you can cast all those spells without resting. If you really need 1 spell for something, just get the scroll.

Sorcerers are great and all but, I'll take a dual-classed Kensai/Mage over one any day.

I'm glad you saked this because this is a subject that I know everything about. The sorcerer is better in the beginning of the game until about level 25; (I beat the game my first time through with a solo sorcerer, so that tells you they are pretty good.) after that, he gets no more spells to cast or learn. (Actually you stop being able to cast more spells at about level 21, 6 per level; but after that, the game compromises and lets you learn more spells since you have so limited.) The specialist mage on the other hand, can't even learn 9th level spells because it wasn't allowed in the game code. This is easily fixed, for you see, the all mighty Shadow Keeper can fix that small problem. (Just don't go overboard and make the game no challenge) The mage does have to prepare spells still, (which is a minor bummer) but at about level 28 or so, they are actually able to cast more spells per day than the sorcerer because their spell progression keeps going unlike the sorcerer.

I think mages are cool, but I personally prefer sorcerors. They can cast more spells of each level, and you can choose on the spot what spells you wish to cast, instead of having to choose the right ones before resting. Ok they can't write scrolls, but I can never find and write the right spells I want anyway, you can also choose the spells you think are best instead of having to find them.

Actually, I totally forgot about that. If you are going solo or with a small party, it definately makes a difference. Good thing you remembered. But, that kind of leads me into another thing; like Who Deany said above, sorcerers get to pick the spells that they want right when they gain a level. That means if you wanted the Sunfire spell or some other hard to get spell, you wouldn't have to wait to find it on a scroll.

Well Who_Deany (my bro strangely enough) is about right. Sorcerers certainly do have their strong points in that they can cast spells whenever they feel like it. I prefer mages in that they can have a wide range of spells and can differ and mess with the options they have. Okey they have to rest... but every class have their weaker side. And i have no idea what u r on aboot bro when u say u can't find the right spells! There are loads of them around, and you can go and buy a specific scroll if you need it.

Change of idea...A personal spell favourite of mine is Haste. Luvurly!
