I really couldn't tell you since I've had neither one in my party for very long...try taking them both in for awhile, and seeing for yourself.

I personally don't like Aerie because although she has a lot of variety with spells, she can't cast *all* the ones you need in a battle due to the pause in casting...a better bet is to have one cleric and one mage, each doing their own job.

It's also a good and evil choice, unless of course you play a neutral character with a party of mixed up alignment.

As I have said before and as I going to say again: Edwin is totally omnipotent! With that amulet of his he gets obcsene abounts of spells and he has decent stats. He is the only mage than can cast lvl 9 spells from memory but that wont matter until later. I would say go with Edwin. Aerie just complains alot but she has a decent spell battery with both cleric and mage spells.

Generally what I do is use Aarie as my backup mage and cliric spell caster, I have never played with edwin so I cant help you with him.

Aerie, shes good as a back up mage/cleric plus if you want you can have a romance with her :) I know you can have a romance with whatshisname but then we get very strange.......

    But still, go with Aerie.

Edwin definately! Why? He is probably the best red wizard from Thay. Well, hrm maybe not as good as Szass Tam but he is definately worth having in your party despite any alignment conflicts. He is way smarter than aerie and can memorize more spell than any mere mage so you'll definately end up with more level nine slots in your spell book. Give him the ring of wizardry, acuity, and a robe of vecna which means you don't even need a back up mage! ;) Plus, he's a funny cynic which can sometimes lift your spirits in the dankest of dungeons during any crawl. If you play your cards right you might even help him discover a powerful artifact to help your party!!

Edwin is probably the best spelcaster in the game. He is also cool to make fun of after his quest. Everybody annoys him. I'm not spoiling anything else

[IMG] I think they both rule and that they complement each other nicely; Aerie is a great backup mage and healer and Edwin is the best mage in the game. As long as you dont go to any reputation extremes there should be no problem having them in the same party. In fact, they have a few pretty funny interactions. Along with Imoen, these two make a formidable "artillery" section for your party. Overkill, you say? Nah...

[IMG] Edwin has SO funny dialogues with almost ALL of the game's NPCs. Personally I used him every time. Even when I played my sorcerer-game (he was backup-mage then *g*).
