I saw something on the box the other day about Drury Lane. Apparently, back in the 1700s there was a famous Actor or Playwright (cant remember which) called Garrick. Could this be where the inspiration for the Bard Garrick came from?

According to Encarta, David Garrick (1717-1779) was an actor, theatrical manager, and playwright. Considered one of the greatest actors of the British Theater and considered the foremost Shakespearean player of his time. In 1747, he acquired the Drury Lane Theater and helped manage it.

Now is that inspiration for Garrick or what? I wonder if his personality is the same? What about Silke, Garricks boss, could she have been named after anyone famous?

"Silke" appears to be the standard name for German women who go to the olympics. So no, I don't think that was inspired by someone Garrick knew. You realize that most of the names in BG1 were just pulled out of someones ass, right?

And I honestly don't know what David Garrick's personality was like, so I can't say whether the character is modelled after him.

I know most of the names were made up, but some of the names, along with the sayings have comic references.

im willing to bet that garrick is not based on garrick. garrick makes a cameo in bg2 and is part of a dialogue that portrays him as a half assed bard(stutters, lacks elegant language, etc.) not someone who is likely to become a famous actor.
