why do so few people vote on polls...

    Five thousand registered users here at SP and the average poll posted gets like 20 votes. What's up with that. Can someone explain why more people don't vote?

    First off, there are technically 5000 registered posters. I am willing to say that one-twelfth of that amount posts on a regular basis.

    As for your question, I believe it is because in practically every poll, there is not the option "No opinion. Only want to see results."

    Personally, I think if people (including me) remembered to do that, there would be a lot more voters.

    Yeah, I agree with C'Jacob...I posted a poll about yoga, and since I added the "Never taken Yoga" option, a lot of people have voted. Also not many people come here on a regular baisis so a poll might end up on a differnt page, or too far down the list...I know I don't usually scroll all the way down the page...or check the other pages of a section for interesting threads. :rolling:

    For me, i don't vote all the time coz i don't want to. No, mainly coz of the 'no opinion' option lacking. If it's thinks like "BG or IWD" there are hundreds of those, so it gets a bit pointless.

    And keep in mind that not every member visits every forum either.

    For polls in Whatnots, only people that are genuinely enthusiastic about the topic will bother to look at your poll.

    So even if you ask for very general opinions, you won't get any response from people who don't care enough to even click on the link to your thread.
