Why Items Disappear?

First I noticed my sorcerer's robe and familiar were gone. I can't tell where I lost them, but now in Drow City, the Tavern Duels after last fight against mage sorcerer lost her robe again and Imoen's bracers, necklace and Kuo-Toan's Blood were gone too. Are there thieves in action or something else

Probably Har...thingies and Nus...thingies. Those things mages summon. Have you got the patch?

 

Nishruus and Hakeshars can "eat" magical items from your characters when they hit. I didn't know they can go after familiars, though.

 

Ouch. Guess I don't want to summon them if I'm fighting a mage with nice stuff...

 

I think CamDawg is correct - one of those mages in the duel does summon a nishruu.

I didn't know it eats up the Kua Toan Blood. That's a quest item too, which makes it all the stranger.

BTW did you lose the point of Constitution and HP after losing your familiar?

 

I made a quick-save before the fight and I got these patches too, so I re-played that fight and nishruu "eat" nothing.

No, I didn't lost CON point and hitpoints.

 

What I find annoying is when some things make you drop your weapons - then you forget to pick them up.

I also remember losig my familiar - I accidently left him behind in Irenicus' Dungeon

I've always wondered why stuff goes missing if you leave it on the ground too long...

And disintergrate is annoying when a script means Edwin/whoever uses it on an NPC with decent EQ

 

Maybe somebody takes away your stuff, it's quite realistic. If you leave behind a ring, somebody would have taken it within a few hourd I think. Don't you?

 

if your familiar is in the first slot in the inventory, it's likely to be dumped when party gains an item. it happened a number of times to me.

Would there be thieves in like - the forest or something? Or perhaps in a cleared out dungeon?

 

Does this mean you can recast Find Familiar and get the HP bonus again?

 

If it doesn't register your familiar is dead then no. When I left my familiar behind I couldn't summon another one. And if you drop it you can't eaither - even if it disappears or stolen from your inv.

Umm... my question in the context was:

If nishruu eats the familiar, can you recast find familiar?

Because October said when his familiar disappeared, he didn't lose the CON point nor any HP. It seems unclear to me whether it really died.

 

That's correct, I can't recast Find Familiar
