I got to thinking about how many patches there are out there (fan made patches) to fix various bugs. there were a few official patches made released by the creators of BG2 but there are so many other bugs, why weren't any other patches officially released as well?

Because time spent patching the game (and testing the patches) costs money, and if there are good fan patches out there that fix it all anyway, it's really wasted money. In most cases the game is playable through even without all the extra fixes, and that's all that matters.

I played BGII-SoA through with only the official patch and had no problems. It wasn't until I came to SP that I learned about the other patches. As Tal says if the game is playable that's all that matters.

I think if official patches removed fake-talk problem, "fog of war" problem, and so on, the game would be far more enjoyable. Unfortunately, that's not to happen. :(

If I understand what you're talking about, those "problems" are actually just ways to abuse the game engine. You don't need a patch to fix it in order to make it more enjoyable - just don't take advantage of them.

He-he, can you ? Really, really, can you ? Even if you're 30+ and have a will of steel, sometimes you just need good to have solid walls with a sign: "Don't !"

ahem... Oh, it's just me, I guess. :)

Anyway, for me these bugs just plain stand out. It's not possible in 'real' FR setting, and therefore, annoys me to no end.
