The 5% chance of something happening from the table at the back of the manual is for any spell casting.

You cast it, and then pick any spell in your spell book (It doesn't have to be memorised). Then AFAIK you roll on the table of 100 at the back. You then add your mages level to this number, and that's the affect that happens.

Chaos Shield and Improved Chaos Shield improve your dice roll by 15 and 25 respectively.

Dweomer has saved my butt a few times, done things differently then what I expected although not necessarily bad several times, and really hurt me only a couple of times. But always try to get a Chaos Shield in before casting it, as that betters your chances of getting a favorable result.

Hmm, Maybe a chain contigency with improved choas shelid and that reckless one would be cool. Fill it in with like a magic missile or something.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you professional Wild Mages out there. It seems to me that NRD is useful for attempting to cast
    1) a spell in your book to which you do not yet have access (you've memorized Time Stop, but you are only level 15 for instance) or
    2) a spell you have already used or failed to memorize (you just have to have one more fireball for instance) or
    3) any spell at all when you really just want to see the cool interesting effect of weird random magic.

DemoGorgon - if you want a contigency with magic missiles, why would you not just make a contingency with magic missiles? NRD seems way too random and complicated for something as simple as that.

Yep that's about the size of it Trunculo. The first point you made is great when it works, nothing like using a spell that you normally wouldn't be able to use. It's all a gamble though.

Goblin Slayer.. you should be ashamed of yourself!

but please... do get an authentic copy soon and stop buying pirated software.. if you can't afford them.. well.. I guess we're all pressed in different ways... so eventually when you can afford them.. buy an ORIGINAL COPY... i had to save for a week (that means a whole week of waiting while that game remained on the shelf!! and you guys were here having fun... forcing myself away from the spoilers!)... but let me tell you.. you'll feel very satisfied.... its a game worth keeping and playing all over again and again

Had to make an own wild mage to see what all the talk was about. Ironically, he managed to petrify himself in Irenicus's dungeon when casting stone skin. Pretty close, but not exactly the effect I wanted

Need to save a bit more often with that class, it seems.

Ya know, I remember I was against Melissan and then my wild mage cast a spell and turned into a squirrel. The monsters near nearly killed themselves trying to hack at a 2 inch critter.
