[IMG] I have just installed windows XP and I love it, but instead of replacing my old windows installation I have now got two windows versions on my comp.

I was wondering if anyone know how I can get rid of windows 2000 without deleting every thing on my comp.

Why in the nine hells would you post such a question here? This place is full of ar-pee-gee-ers. They wouldn't know a hard from a floppy.

Mirkwood, thanks for the stupid reply. You have contributed much to this topic. In the future, don't bother. Since the Whatnots forum is for everyone, not only RPG players post here. And I dare say many of us have a bit of tech knowledge.

Since just about any tech question posted here has been answered before, this one will probably be as well.

Turambar, I had the exact same problem... Not even deleting everything on that partition helped. It still shows 4 versions of Windows on startup, even though there's only one installed currently. I haven't a clue how to get rid of the redundant installs. Anyone else?

First you'll have to uncheck hide system files and then check show hidden files and folders. Then go to c:bad:, and right-click and select properties for boot.ini.
There, uncheck read-only and archive if they are checked (don't remember). After that, close boot.ini.
Then double-click it to open it in notepad, and remove the unwanted menu items.
(You might want to backup this file before you modify it).

Some people here already proved to have much knowledge of pc's and they also proved that they are able to solve problems.

But why don't you wanna reinstall XP again after also WIn200 is removed?

I think I may just format my HD and reinstall XP, seems like the other methods will give me alot of work too.

Thanks anyway guys. And it really is true that you can get an answer to alot of tech questiones here, I have asked before and each time I have been given a good answer that helped me out. Only one person has ever answered and not been able too clear things up a bit, and that would be you Mirkwood.....

Editing the boot.ini file works just fine. The c:bad:WINNT folder you can just delete. Also delete your Windows 2000 user folder in c:bad:Documents and Settings.

Windows gets XP from butchering your files, programs and such, and level-ups into even worse, more expensive and more complicated vewrsions....
