Wizardslayer's Patron-deity

    Simple question to some of you, so help me out, okay?

    What would be the 'best' suitable patron deity for a wizardslayer?
    Or: Is there any (pref. Good or Neutral) deity that opposes Arcane magic?

    I first thought of Tempus and create a cleric/fighter with the Protection Domain. But afaik Tempus does not have a hatred of arcane magic and I would prefer a deity who does.

    I assume you're talking about FR.

    I not extremely familiar with that campaign setting, but perhaps an anti-necromancy deity would work nicely (since that is usually how magic is used to evil ends). I'm thinking Chauntea or Mielikki (however you spell it). That said, I can't really think of an anti-arcane deity in general. FR is a bit heavy on mages.

    Mayhaps you should try some of the dwarven deities. Erran wrote a huge list of them which is somewhere on SP.

    Mystra is opposed to the shadow weave but I think all the gods that use that are evil. Shar is the only one I can think of off hand(don't have my F&P handy).

    Any barbarian god or totem would be a good choice. I would also say that any god who focuses on fighters would be a good choice for a wizard slayer patron in that if the God advocates fighting as a solution to things (such as Tempus, Helm, Tyr, or Torm) he might not look favorably on arcane spellcasters -- or at least some sects of his might feel that way. In the case of Tempus in particular, whose followers are of almost any alignment, he would probably quite gladly sponsor a sect of wizard slayers.

    I have been 'studying' several deities, and I still think I'll stick with the battleguard.

    I also thought that 'fighter' deities (like tempus, helm etc) might be good suggestions, but I was just curious if some of you knew a deity who was particularly opposed by arcane magic.
    Mystra has some 'inquisitors' who search out arcane 'abusers', but mystra is an arcane deity herself, so she won't fit for my char.

    I'll stick with tempus, me guesses.
