Would you meet up with other forum members?

Would you meet up with other forum members over Skype or Zoom? Interesting question, especially for a lot of the older members as some of you have known each other for years and have been messaging each other quite a lot.

Meeting up in real life could be dangerous or hard to do. But would you meet up with other forums members through something like Skype? If you didn’t feel comfortable with having a camera on, you could only have audio and talk to people like a phone call just with your forum avatars in place of the camera for example.

I think that would be cool if you guys who’ve known each other for years talked via Skype or something. You could even play games online with each other and become friends. I don’t know. Just some intoxicated thoughts of mine.

    What say you?

I know that some members have met IRL (some knew each other before joining as well, but that's not what you are aiming at).

My biggest regret is that when Kitrax was visiting Southern California, we could not work out a time to meet. I REALLY regret that.

Well, we do have a chatroom, so members can get together in a way that's more real-time than interaction via forum posts alone. Chat also allows direct 1:1 private chats. Setting up Skype or Zoom for a mass meeting would already be more complex, so there's less of a chance of people wanting to bother with it.

From my POV, setting up scheduled chats where members would get together at the same time would make sense. Maybe making it a weekly or bi-weekly event. Time zones are a problem, however, since our largest groups of members are from the EU and US/Canada.

I am aware of the chatroom. It couldn't even be a mass meeting, just a one on one conversation.

I agree it would be hard to do with timezones but if a few members really got along and have known each other for a while and decide to take that friendship to the 'next step' it could be doable.

I've met up with a few Sorcereans over the years, some I'm still pretty good friends with and we talk on other social media

I think it's been six or seven I've met? Ignoring the people who have come to the forum because I told them how great it was.
