First time I heard about baldur's gate 2 and ToB, I was still a college sophomore (1999-2000). already 2005 and amidst the ongoing console wars and games which require super PC specs, I'm still surprised (and amused! ^_^) that the Bioware Baldur's Gate series is still so hot. Sadly, it's harder to find these games on stores so you either have to rummage through eBay or burn your friend's copy :p

My PC ain't actually a monster (NWN runs VERY slowly on my ancient PC), but I'm still glad I'm still able to play one of the best PC games releaed.

Too bad Bioware ain't releasing anymore games :(

Bioware certainly is releasing more games. Just not any more BG games.

This game is great for many reasons. But still I must say as you Blacklion, I don't have to buy a super PC to keep up the race towards better and better graphics, no I keep my rusty old pc and still am I able to play this amazing game. :)

It's especially wack to think that loads of people (including me!) are also still playing BGI and IWD. I have never seen anything come close to it. Take another cult game like the first Diablo game Blizzard made (the 2nd sucked imho). It was really a great game, had some of the best and most creepiest game design I've ever seen, yet not the same re-playability as the BG series... For me I guess it's mostly nostalgia. Bg was sort of what got me into CRPG's, and I've stuck with that ever since. It simply just holds a special place in my gamers heart, and it's always a great joy to see those chunky, old, yet so alive and full of atmosphere, animations of good 'ol Baldur's Gate. Maybe I'm just becoming an sentimental old fart :heh: , but I love my BG and will probably play it for years to come.

What got me to CRPG was the (good) old Daggerfall. But when BG came on the market, everything else turned pale compared to BG.

Does anybody remember Warlords, the first and original one, some kind of remake of Tolkiens world...? (Edit:) Well actually not a RPG but still funny :p

Ah, my computer is relatively modern compared to the one I first played BG on. Indeed I'm now a relatively skilled UT2004 player, but the BG series always keeps me coming back. It's one of those timeless classics, like most of the FF series - that I always replay at least once or twice a year, and will always hold a spot close to my heart, whichever genre I play :D

As an aside, I'm pinning all my hopes on Dragon Age for BioWare. KotOR gave me the impression they still have the old charm, and hopefully DA will be laden with it. Ah well, if not, then I still have the 'Trilogy' and I doubt it will be put to (eternal) rest for some time.

So was commander Keen :shake: , though neither was it a CRPG :p

Wouldn't get my hopes up, imho it doesn't look to be all that.

Blasphemy! Do you not remember the passage: "Thou shall cherish thy BG games, lest thou wish to perish, hence BG (Like sony PSP) art the work of the divine" 4th gamers letter, 14.5. Never may it be laid to eternal rest.

Oh well, guess I'm going a wee :yot:

There's simply a depth to BG2 that I haven't found in any other game I've played on or offline. (And as a player you realize that from the moment you hear the opening and character creation theme and Viconia's romance theme)
Admittedly I still haven't tried Planescape: Torment though.

Neither have I...and its not for lack of trying either!

I just cannot find a copy of that game anywhere! None of my mates have a copy for me to burn either! This is really annoying.

And before you say, go buy it off SP's shop links, I cannot, because they don't deliver in India.

    @Faraaz:
Then find a go-between. Surely someone else on this site is willing to buy it for you and send it in the mail (provided you paid for it, of course).

Isn't that a bit dodgy? I mean...I doubt that would be very reliable...

:jawdrop: SPers? Unreliable?!? How dare you, sir! ;)
I'm sure you can find somebody you trust. Heck, I bet Tal would do it if you asked real nice and offered to sharpen his dragon teeth. Besides, what's your alternative? Just the thought of no PS:T sends shivers down my spine, all the way to the tip of my tail. :shake:

Faraaz, when in doubt, try ebay.

I got the entire series (before I knew about this site... sorry Tal) for under $10.
