Reinstalled BG2 today to continue my old save game. On it my monk was lv 21 at 296.... something XP. Now I installed the game + ToB (I'm still in SoA though) and also the cap remover from TeamBG (the one that also adds appropriate perks up to lv 50).

When I try to load my game though, it puts me back and caps me at 2950000 :(

Any idea what the problem might be ?

    Thanks

Sounds like you haven't installed the XP cap properly, and hence, you're facing the (rather sucky) XP cap. If you did it manually by putting the .2DA files in the Override folder, I recommend getting the Ease of Use mod, which is a Weidu based installer, which among other things, removes the XP cap. You can't go wrong with Weidu :) .

However, if you DID use Weidu, then I say just re-install the XP cap.

If that STILL doesnt help you, I have no idea whats going on.

I've installed the XP cap from Easy mod, still, I only reached level 40 and stoped there, I think is about 8000000 XP, I'm still looking for one of those things...

    Okay this is weird.

On my savegame, I have 296xxxx XP (I've crossed the cap).

When I load the game, it seems to put me back at 2950000 XP.

BUT, the cap remover SEEMS to be working because if I proceed to kill something, I gain XP over 2950000. Is there some kind of initial XP check that adjusts your xp values BEFORE loading the override files ? Anyone know how to fix this ?

(Although I'm pretty sure that if I save again after going over 2950000 it will be ok. It probably does this because it's an old savegame and I didn't have ToB installed at the time... or something like that)

Well, I'm not an expert on all this techie stuff, but what it sounds like to me is that you had a save game, pre-XP cap removal, at 2950000 xp, and now have imported him, and got more experience, with the XP cap. Now...if it isnt working, a simple way to check if the XP cap is installed properly, would be to just start a new character, preferably a multiclassed mage character, and CLUA his xp up to 16000000 xp.

On doing this, the mage part of him should be up at lvl 34. If so, then the XP cap remover is working fine, and its the monk and the earlier save game which is broken.

If the XP cap remover isnt working however, then there's nothing for it, try getting the latest version of the Ease of Use mod, manually delete the XP cap table files (I dunno the exact names) and then re-install the XP cap.

Doing either of these SHOULD set you up. But, if it turns out that your monk is broken, stuff him and get a new one, eh? :)
