Here is the stock room, where you'll find the Tranquil, Owain, still alive. He hints that someone named Niall is looking for an important litany that can stop Blood Mages from being able to control the mind. The corpses around him may have a few random items. You`ll also find here a Stained Portrait, which Sten will appreciate receiving as a gift.
Here you'll be forced to fight a trio of Blood Mages. Chuck out a quick spell like Glyph of Neutralization or Cone of Cold to take the initiative. The surviving Blood Mage is going to beg for mercy and explain some of the background. Whether you let her live or die is up to you.
In the meantime, some containers around here may contain some random items, as well as a Scroll of Banastor, which adds a Journal Entry that will explain Blood Magic, and is also part of a quest on the part of the Mage's Collective. Other items you wil find will also include the Rose of Orlais, which Wynne will appreciate.
There will be a few Abominations in here, as well as containers with random items.
In this room you will end up fighting a few Shambling Corpses, as well as a couple of Abominations. An armoire in here has a Silver Chain, which Morrigan will appreciate as a gift. A chest in here will also have a Love Letter in it.
A closet in the corner of this room also has a mage who's been hiding inside. He can also offer some information on Niall and the Litany that will keep its recipient safe from mind control through Blood Magic. Note also that in Orzammar you may get a quest that invovles smuggling lyrium. The same mage here who was hiding in a closet, Gwidon, is the buyer for the lyrium.
Here you'll have to fight a few more Blood Mages. One of them leaves behind the Creationist's Cord. You'll also find more Apprentice's Notes which will add more background info to your Journal.
Here are a few Abominations and a Rage Demon. Containers in here will have a few random items.
Some of the corpses here will have random items. One of them however has a Chantry Amulet, which Leliana will appreciate as a gift. If you click on the Fallen Statue in this room, you`ll be offered an option to break the Glass Phylactery inside. If you do, you`ll be forced into combat with a Revanant.
A Revenant is an incredibly powerful opponent in its own right. They can swing their weapon in an arc, causing lots of damage to multiple nearby enemies. They can also use Telekinesis to pull opponents within melee range. To defeat a Revenant, it helps to have a healthy mix of 2 or 3 types of talents. One type of talent is spells that can hold the Revenant still. Spirit Prison, Cone of Cold, and Petrify qualify. Another type is spells that while not immobilizing the Revenant, will reduce its ability to fight. These include Misdirection Hex, which can cause the Revenant to miss its blows, and Curse of Mortality, which will negate its regeneration ability. Another type is abilities that will increase the party's capacity to inflict damage on the Revenant. These include Critical Strike, Deadly Strike, Death Hex, Flaming Weapons, and Telekinetic Weapons. The idea is to keep his actual participation in the battle to an absolute bare minimum if you can manage it.
If you do kill the Revenant, it will leave behind a Scrap of Paper that reveals a Codex entry involving a quest to visit overdue retribution on several Revenants.
There are three things of note in this room. First, there are Apprentice's Notes in here that relates a few more details of the divisions that exist within the Circle of Magi.
Here is Irving's chest, which may hold some pricey gems and particularly potent potions. It has the Small Painted Box, the relevancy of which will not be apparent until you look around in the city of Denerim. It also has the Black Grimoire, which Morrigan will appreciate as a gift. In fact, it will trigger a quest involving her mother, Flemeth.
