Although the quest hasn't begun yet, you can decide whether it will be
three or four crew members you'll need to save while you're still in the
prologue. Winning the fight after leaving the Captain's
Cabin leads to a scripted interaction whereby you must choose
between saving somebody named Chitupec and a crate of items.
Saving Chitupec means one more crew member to find as part of the quest,
as well as somebody who can later become a member
of your ship crew.
The quest itself begins the moment you wash up ashore at #1 in Vilario's
Rest. The quest itself requires finding any nearby surviving
members from the shipwreck.
There is the shipwreck at #5. Getting up and down it requires either an
Athletics check of 2 or using a Rope
and Grappling Hook during a scripted interaction.
Irenna is at #6. Getting her
down safely from the shipwreck requires either getting her well enough
to get down on her own through a Survival check of 2 or a Lay on Hands,
or getting her down yourself through an Athletics check of 2 or a
Survival check of 2.
Any survivors you find will gather about the campfire at #7.
Eld Engrim is at #8, and
it takes very little to convince him to gather with the others.
If you had rescued Chitupec
during the scripted interaction, then he will be at #11. He'll regroup
with the others after you speak to him, and he'll also indicate that
somebody named Beodul is in the nearby Sea Cave, the entrance to which
is at #12.
Beodul will be at #8 on the map
of the Sea Cave. Chances are you'll have to fight at least a few
monsters to reach him, such as the Cave Beetles at #2 and the Skeletons
at #3.
Beodul's problem is that he's surrounded by traps. There's a number of
ways to get him out safely:
Make a Mechanics check of 1, followed by disarming all of the
traps one by one.
Make a Perception check of 11 to guide him past the traps.
Make a Bluff check of 2 to trick him into going over the traps.
Make an Intellect check of 13 to safely set off the traps.
Make a Sleight of Hand check of 2 to also set off the traps.
Make any one of those and he'll go to the campfire.
Finding all the survivors you can means successful completion of the
quest and 700+ xp.
