    Wow - what a heated debate.

    1) The ONLY way that this is funny, is if it is, as Splunge seems to be suggesting, a satire of movie CRITICS rather than of the movie itself. But nobody has suggested that until now.

    2) We're not being precious or defensive about Tolkien. All we're saying is that it's neither funny nor clever. Just like Scary Movie 3 (which also doesn't satirise, or even spoof, its targets in a clever or hilarious way)

    I guess that depends on your definition of funny and clever, which apparantly differs greatly from mine. Different strokes, I guess. I was impressed and about pissed myself laughing, but that's me.

    The coach in the humor gym is blowing his whistle at you. ;)

    Good grief! If that's typical of the "quality" of posts in other forums, then I'm glad SP is the only one I belong to. :rolleyes:

    Edit: Gonzago had provided links to a couple of other forums to show that SP isn't unique in having a disagreement over whether the list was funny. I didn't intend my comments above to be critical of Gonzie for posting the links; but for the record, let's just say the the quality of the posts in the other forums pretty much belonged in the gutter, unlike what we're used to at SP.

    Well I found the article great, but, hey, what does my opinion matter, I found Scary Movie 3 a good movie. :o But the second link is really hilarious. I think most people who posted against the first link would relate well to the person of Jay in the second article. :p
