Im not much for retyping lyrics or posting lyrics that arent my own but i know a great band called tool (maybe you've heard of em) that writes great lyrics (at least on their older albums less on their new one) about things i.e. lieing, the end of the world they tend to make music more as an art and not as a media or a means to money, i strongly reccommend them you can check them out at www.toolband.com

The End

The moon casts its golden glow
donw on the world below.
The light is sensual,
like a lovers hand.
The wind,
a gentle kiss.
Steel binds the darkest nights,
evils lurking deep.
Rolling waves of hynotic thought
rushing the shores of sanity.
Boundless time has risen here
as trees are born to fall...
Heavans doors are open now
to many, but
not to all.

you might wanna fix your post, the exclamation marks at the end of it render the link useless
How ever i do congradulate you on your sucess it's quite a feat and i find it especially so because i can't write poetry

JOY IS A MEMORY

I used to write happy poems
Of things which were to be welcomed, not feared
Of things of joy, not sorrow
Where has the joy gone?
I can recall none of it,
Write none of it,
Praise none of it,
And in my mind it is fainta s a memory
Of facts; the emotions themselves are gone.
Perhaps I should run after it,
Hair streaming,
Into the sun,
Chasing this most human of addictions,
Joy.
But maybe not; Joy is only hollow,
A fleeting feeling,
Barely remembered,
Once it's gone.

 

Tiamat----that is my favorite one out of all the ones you have posted so far. It is very picturesque.

But I can tell you that the emotions which CAUSED the poem were hell to feel.

 

Here's the one about addiction:


When I join you in dark night
You embrace my heart and soul
Drugging me to insomnia
Leave me resistless of you

My mind is unable to stop
Forbidden drug you should be
A future they see in you
The weak, me, left in your might

Down this path the end I know
Been there before, got out too
When I was freed from you then
A piece of you was still there

I am walking down this path
Now the struggle seems pointless
Day by day, stronger you are
I cannot keep up this pace

I am captured, no escape
A spider with prey in web
I have lost all will to fight
Addicted to you once more


From my dial-up days Now I'm drugged 24/7

The curse of me

As moonless night draws in
The darkness swallows me
Filling my surroundings
Shutting out the bright light

The darkness takes my sight
Leaving me in blindness
As an invisible shade
To roam valleys at night

A riding horse I hear
This feared horseman I know
The one with the pale face
Death, whom I cannot see

I try to find my way
A voice calls out my name
Outside beyond darkness
Waiting for me to come

But I am drained of hope
Face a life in anguish
Believe me when I say
This is the curse of me

This is from one of my favorit bands Hammerfall:

ME, MYSELF, AND I


Help me!
I am alone with myself in a maze of hatred
Spare me!
Do not watch, impassive,
While the other shadow enemy
The other self, the other me
She circles me
A predatory look in her eyes and
Fierce hands, curled like claws,
To gouge my eyes out;
Look at me,
I am an abomination,
Yearning infant and cynical adult
In the same body,
I am every one of them.
The only one of my kind, I am
Alone, unaccepted, and misunderstood
Just the shadow of myself for company.
Were my knight on a white horse to
Reveal himself to me and come to
Carry me away
Just one look at me and he will
Run screaming away
So I am
All alone
With just myself and I
In a maze of hatred....

 

This passage reminds me a bit at two things.

1. The BG-games especially when you changed into the Slayer without wanting it. Then you are devided in two persons, the child of Bhaal and the good hero.

2. Frodo with the ring. Frodo is also good but the ring creates another person in him, the shadow of himself, that betrayes Sam in the end and that awakens when someone wants to get the rings.

 

As I said before, I'm no poet, but reading through this collection of great work just sort of gets the creative juices flowing.
I remember in university how I almost failed one of my english courses (yikes!) I'm an engineer at heart, so I apologize in advance for the crudeness of my verse.


Thoughts of a Child

Pyramids and towers embrace
Our memories for years.
Who can forget sculpted stone
Or rusting mounds of alloy?
The designs of great people
With great minds.
Formed by the masses
Who vanish without a trace.

I'm going to leave my mark.

We work to carve our legacy
From this finite piece of existence.
A yearning for approval and acceptance
Transforms into ugliness and greed.
The innocence of youth
Is transformed beyond recovery,
As we join the blind masses
Marching towards their death.

I'm going to live forever.

Moeken, you should really get some more positive about yourself, for the poem is a good one!

 

Woohoo, Lord Moeken! You see, you may not be great with english, but everyone can write how they feel in words.

Three things that usually turn the words into a poem are the way it is written or stlye of it, the fact that is designs or describes an image for you in an artistic manner, or the fact that it rhymes.

She Said “I Love You”


I’ve waited so long that I was stunned to hear it
I did not believe, yet I could not hear enough
I died the same instant life became worth living
I gained the world the moment I lost myself

Heart afire, mind in wonder
Purging rain, soulful thunder
I prayed, take me now
before reality takes my bliss

But it was as real as she
Those divine words she sang to me
She stood there smiling, eyes shining
Like depthless, brown pools

I drowned in those eyes
I drank from her lips and breathed her in
Drunken, delirious, lungs near exploding…
Yet my lips refused to leave her

Raven dark hair cascading to shapely shoulders
Impossibly long legs that carried an hourglass frame
I looked at her and I tingled
Like feet in a cool brook, the water tickling, caressing…

With scarcely a breath, I lost myself in her
And discovered myself on the curve of her smile
I dared to speak those frameless words,
To surrender myself to forever

She said “I love you”
What was I to say, except...
“I love you too”

 

REFUGEES FROM LIFE

We are all, refugees of a sort,
From life; running all we can,
Till we have no home to return to,
Because we like it that way,
No home that's turned upon itself or simply
That you yourself are lost and all alone.
Refugees from life where can you run to
Run all you can to run from running
Away; Where can you hide until it
Catches up with you and you must
Run once more till you are all alone
Again?

 

Another one of my melancholy poems, it is certainly rough, but I like it.
- To stride with the hollowed masses

i walk in my society
hiding my true face
for fear of judgement
and an unknown fate
and the supremecy
i think i wear

and then it creeps into my head
a thought no more disturbing there could be
that i am just like these people
and i manage to judge them too
and in my mind i realize
i become as they do

i think myself oh so supreme
i think myself to be great
and deep in the recesses of my head
i find i am a wretch

a specter of humanity
as it really was
and always will be
for if we ever evolve
no longer humans we will be...

and so i look even farther
deeper still
and i find a mass of darkness
representing me
and then i realize i am darkest
more chaotic a man there cannot be

and to myself i whisper
in tones sharper than a blade
i am the bearer of all evils
that humans instill in me....

MOURNING AT THE END OF SUMMER

Everything undone and this is the
mourning at the end of summer
when the happy days are over
and you don't know where to go

lost wandering and friendless witness
the collapse of everything you've known
crashing to the ground ‘cause it's the end
this is gone over done with the happy days

it's the mourning at the end of summer
castles in the air crashing down
into frozen sand you built them
and swallowed by the tides of autumn

Over and done with the patchwork quilt
unraveling carefully what you held together
winding to a close nothing lasts
and death embraces everything around you all even you

thought you were immortal but you're not
and when you die it comes the mourning
at the end of summer when the happy days are
over and you know that you're alone

That's a great rhyme. Is it based on something like a story of something that happend in your life?

 

yeah real life of course, Headbanger. She commited suicede after writing this and came back as an angel
