Having more than one killer would help explain the high body count at the camp area.

I have heard a 2nd person was arrested but no details beyond that.

    E. Europe, Russia, and Scandinavia have all seen Neo-Nazi type groups so if there was help I wouldn't be surprised if it came from someone in their train of thought.

Now he could still be an Al Queda follower and be covering his true identity on his facebook page as a way of trying to misdirect authorities but I suspect that joining a staunch fanatical righting nativist group would be a step far for a radical islamist trying to maintain a cover.

Could happen but I wouldn't expect it.

I read through some of his epistel a European Declaration of Indepence, it's massive (1472 pages for me) and it isn't a properly typeset pdf (it's difficult to read on my mac) so I'm not going to try to actually read it. What I think about his religious affiliations is that they are coincidental, he is mainly a conservative and western Europe used to be predominately Christian, and thus his religion follows from his conservatism.

However, you can use religion to justify your crimes. I'm not sure if he is doing that.

This morning I was greatly inspired by the PMs speech:

    and

It seems that Norway is not going to physically molest anyone coming near an airport. Huh.

As of now they state in Germany's media, that the Guy used FPS-Games to train his killing-skill. Here it goes again.

It does not take an former-military to tell the absurdity of this comment.

As if playing Counter-Strike or Unreal Tournament will hone your Marksman skill with real Arms.

None seems even to consider that he probably went to the local gun-club or shooting range or has even a absolved military training!

The media, you gotta love them!

What a sad thing and what a deranged man.

    Darion,
they aren't any different than those folks in the US who will inevitably say that if all the children had had guns, the deranged Norwegian would have been shot early, true to the sentiment 'It's a tragedy, but it must be useful for something, like my pet issue'.

Also, with that gadgeted up Ruger that he apparently owned, he didn't need FPS to train to shoot. Note that shoulder pad that apparently reads 'Marxist Hunter'.

This guy appears to have been a right-winger. They found blog posts of his where he expressed that Geert Wilders was Europe's only true conservative and uttered classic hard right themes one could as well hear from a Pam Geller, Robert Spencer or Daniel Pipes - subversion of academia by cultural Marxists or Muslim scholars, subversion of society through multiculturalism and Islam yada yada yada. Generally, the modern breed of European right wingers have traded in their anti-Semitism Jews for Muslims, a term they use loosely. The day before, apparently a Palestinian Solidarity event was held on that island. Maybe he was a day late?

Yes? Where is the attack precisely? That US gun advocates will cite the shooting as supporting their case for more people carrying concealed? Of course they will, just as they have before - in every bloody shooting spree in the US. I am merely predicting the inevitable. The only thing I forgot to mention is that the anti-gun people will cite this as an example why gun laws will have to be made more restrictive. This is hardly US bashing.

The trend among some German politicos to use such events to call for a ban of FPS games follows the same logic. Darion is right. They assert that the shooter played FPS and thus 'trained killing' there and that thus FPS are dangerous. Ludicrous. The guy was so far gone that it didn't need FPS to push him over the edge. He did that just fine by himself. I know plenty mature, responsible and emotionally stable family fathers who play FPS. That just doesn't fit the stereotype of pimply faced loners who play FPS, and then go grab dad's gun and go on a school shooting spree.

As a striking example of such brilliant analysis, I recall a particularly asinine episode of Quincy, where some concerned lady explained to Quincy, who was investigating a nasty Punk rock club screwdriver stabbing, that, naturally, it was the aggressive Punk music that drove the people insane so they start to stab and murder each other. Of course she is right. Ever since I started to listen to Punk rock music I have been involved in innumerable Punk concert stabbings. After ten times or so it becomes a way of life.

The shooting, beyond its tragic impact, will be politically exploited, in Germany as much as in the US.

The part about Pam Geller, Robert Spencer or Daniel Pipes is something we can discuss isolated, if you wish.

Quincy? Really? You're seriously using that TV show as an argument?

The shooting may be politically exploited here is the US (although I haven't heard anything yet, but then I don't listen to FOX), I was just disappointed how quickly it became a (very predictable) political issue here.

Really? I only saw one person in this thread mention the U.S. and the U.S. gun control policies. Every other post seemed to be about Norway. Maybe T2 is just overly sensitive.

Yes he is, just like you, of course. Hey folks, had you read that post you would have noticed that my main drive was about Germany and our FPS demonisers. The ludicrous Quincy episode demonising punk rock is a very valid point in case, since the inane arguments brought forth against punk rock mirror those brought forth against FPS.

That episode was so stupid that it made me stop watching Quincy.

Already, as I predicted, the Norway shooting is used as an argument by the pro gunners in the US, just one example: Norway Massacre: Gun Control…

People are and have long made arguments in light if such events, for and against guns, like the Fort Hood shooting, the Virginia Tech shooting, the Alabama University Shooting, the Mumbay shooting etc pp. But hey, clearly, all I'm doing here is US bashing.

Been reading a bit in this guys manifesto and I must say that his views are eerily reminiscent of a few posters here and right wingers everywhere. His views don't seen to be that special he just acted on them.

I occasionally frequent a Bulgarian news site that doesn't really bother erasing opinions all that much... and in the comments of the article, at some point 20-30% were positive about this guy. Neo-nazi, anti-communists, whoever - some people almost made him to be a freedom fighter.

Bulgaria? Why am I not surprised? Racism and multi-cultural intolerance is hardly a small problem in that side of Europe.

People just need to get out more, meet more people, and chill the **** out. Seriously, that's all that's needed in this world. Too many people get locked in their own internal world. There's enough problems humans face without his hating each other. I might start a group that goes round the streets of world, handing out weed, beer, porn DVD'a and Bob Marley CD's. These sort of incidents would fall rapidly I think.

That Quincy episode is about the 'bad' stereotype.

I grew up with British-Punk. From the Clash, to the Sex Pistols and to the Kennedy's
Yet never mugged or Stabbed anyone.
One can also argue that Bands like The Clash were even socially and politically better informed and educated that 50 Cent and Company!

As for his manifest, I agree, that it's nothing but your run-of-the-mill crap one would expect from such Right wing/Left wing people or organizations.

It's like joacquin said: The acted on it.

Looking this guy over, one can see that he was bloated high on himself and the 'philosophy' he lived.

Yeah, Knight Templar Commander my ass!

True - but don't forget, ethnic and religious minorities have been a part of life here for centuries, yet (as far as I know) such sentiments were extremely rare before. I certainly didn't expect support for a mass murder to be that open. Normally when a tragedy like that hits most people with similar views will distance themselves, at least out of human hypocricy. When people proclaim their support even for such an act, it means they consider their views justified and fully legitimate.

Plus, there is an added element in a lot of posts; the support was not motivated by the ethnicity of the victims, but their political allegiance. It was a surprise in how many statements it wasn't a matter of "white" vs "brown" or even "Christian" vs "Muslim," but "Left" vs "Right." Now, I didn't go counting posts, and it is a site with less-than-stellar reputation, but I was honestly unprepared.

    Here's from an American psycho:
His own 9/12 Project ran a similar summer camp this year, but this was, naturally with Glenn Beck, not about politics.

I need some help here. If I'm understanding this story correctly, this madman was anti-muslim, so he went on a killing spree and killed Norwegians. What is the connection? Was he going after a political party that was pro-apeasement to Muslims? Would this be similiar to a pro-choice supporter killing Republicans as they are the pro-life party?

I also want to find out if in any way, shape, or form, this is Bush's fault? :)
