    Just to interject a little law into this argument, I see that the term fraudulent is being used to discuss signatures. That's fine if the signatures are by made-up people or those who are known to be unable to sign or otherwise should not be considered.

    However, if the only problem is that the people signing for Nader happen to be Republicans with no intention of voting for Nader, then the only question as to fraud is whether it's OK under the state constitution and/or law to do that. According to my best memory of an article I read when Bush I was moping about Perot, most states just have a counting mechanism which does not look to the intent of those who sign, just their status and whether they are able to sign.

    Thus, while I don't like the chimp and think he should be voted out of office, I absolutely cannot countenance any ends-justify-the-means arguments. It's a slippery slope fellas.

    After all, we all know that the only people who can win are the Republicans and Democrats, right? Why should any third party nominee be able to run? They can't possibly win. That's bad logic and disdains the system that operates this country. It's survived plenty of scandal before, and this isn't the first time that corporate interests and big business have held sway. This is all rather cyclical, so, while I can be a bit depressed that neither candidate is qualified to be elected president of the sanitation department, I have faith (get it? A joke! Just like Bush! It's hard work being a libertarian in and Democrat/Republican world) that the Constitution will make it through. After all, it survived FDR's machinations to get us into WWII and his court packing threat, it survived Woodrow Wilson's white supremicist racist tendencies and blatant actions, and it even survived Andrew Johnson's attempts to derail what Lincoln did and died for.

    The court packing threat is something that presidents had used in the past, right from the beginning; it's like a loop-hole around the people. John Adams did the same thing to Thomas Jefferson before leaving office. The battles between Chief Justice John Marshall and President Thomas Jefferson probably shaped the nature of the Supreme Court as it exists today.

    Actually, when you pull up the 1992 election, you'll see that NO canidate received the majority of votes in ANY state. The closest thing I found to a majority was in New York, where 49.7% of all voters voted for Clinton. That being said, this also shows that Bush didn't receive a majority in any state either, even the strongly Republican ones.
