[IMG] Actually, no one wanted to keep a gem as their avatar/portrait yet, and no one would be allowed to either, considering it'd break the system somewhat.

    Tal,
Are you saying that a person couldn't add a gem as PART of their avatar? What kind of avatars are available? Is it possible to take a sneak preview?

Edit: There was a merry Christmas post here. Why not a Happy New Year post also?
Also, I've read in this area that people post to get their count up. So, this is not an original from me. When you said that you don't hold a grudge, was that a Lie? You also, closed the topic

What do you mean by part? You can see what avatars/portraits look like if you look around a bit. A portrait is what I have, an avatar is what Blackthorne TA has, for example. They're all from games covered on SP. And no, there's no sneak preview. You get to see the list when you're eligible.

Where exactly did you read that "in this area that people post to get their count up"? It can't have been meant seriously. As per forum rules, any posting for the sake of that is frowned upon, in any forum.

As for why I closed the topic, I think I explained there well enough. There are duplicate posts with the same Merry X-mas, Happy New Year etc. in here as well as in the Whatnots forum. There's really no point in having so many open. Don't take it personally.

[IMG] Ok, I just thought I'd add my two cents.

Firstly, your name: I think having a question as a name is quite frankly a lame idea. It would make it difficult to refer to you as a person ("What was that IaaA?,?"), and what the hell does IaaA mean anyway? Doing it for the sake of Individuality or Reformity, or simply to annoy Tal/Admin is even lamer. There's plenty of oppertunities to express your originality/diversity in your posts or without having a wierd name.

Yes i realise it's only a name, and yes I realise that 'Gopher' isn't a great name, but I like it and not one person has complained about it for the One And A Half Years I've been registered, so i take it as a sign that it's ok.

You on the other hand, have been registered for what, under a month, and you're getting complaints with Admin. Thats not an ok sign.

    ----------

Two: I got my previous avatar (PS:T creature) and my current Portrait because I had written and sent in several things to Sorcerers Place, sometimes with Tal's asking:

    Gopher's Portraits (BG2)
    Gopher's Portraits Revisited (BG2)
Gopher's Item Making Guide, Spell Making Guide and Armour Making Guide (BG2)
    inc. Gopher's IEEP Tutorials.

Currently I've got an upcoming Mod series, as well as a BG2 Kit Creation Guide.

I daresay I think i've deserved my Avatar/Portrait, and if I get the chance to donate $$ in future then believe me I will.
And as Tal said you should be notified of the list of avatars/portraits when you are deemed suitable.

    As i said, nothing personal,
    just a gopher's two cents.

    Goph

When you attack someone's name (as I said previously) it is an insult to that person. My name is my name. Now, take "Gopher" for instance ... Do you really want to get into this?
IaaA? stands for itself, it is a name. If you have trouble asking me a question, don't worry about it. I'm not too keen on sycophants anyway.

[IMG] By definition, anything with a questionmark in the end is not a name, it's a question. Anyway, this topic has outlived its usefulness.
