    Geothermal technology is still really in the development stage. Areas that have natural hot water springs or vents are easy and chap to tap, just put a turbine over them. Other sources, such as volcanic vents, are harder. If you put a water tank over them, they will heat the water and you can just use a turbine, but the volcanic gasses are very corrosive. If you try to just put a turbine over them, you get the same problem.
    In Iceland, hydrogen is roughly as expensive (miles per dollar) as gas is, but it is more expensive in areas that don't have such a developed hydrogen production industry or less access to water.
