Am I too old for these "things"?

Its abit like thinking that an 80 year old man is too old to play golf ... My grandad still plays it and he's 83 i think :)

[IMG] Man, go away for two weeks and suddenly I'm in demand. :D

Anyway, as the oldest regular poster here (to the best of my knowledge), I'll just reinforce what others have said. As long as playing games doesn't interfere with more important aspects of your life (work, family, personal hygiene), and as long as you don't spend all your spare time gaming, then I don't see anything wrong with it.

Of course, that applies regardless of your age.

Personally, I spend maybe 5 hours a week playing games. For me, this is time that others probably spend watching T.V., which I do very little of.

Splunge, I don't know how old you are but I doubt that you are the oldest poster. Just the oldest to admit it. A lot of Seniors play PC games. Maybe more play RTS or city building then RPG. I will admit to being in the over 50 group and have been playing PC games for ages. Started with "Betrayl at Krondor". It is addictive and can interfer with real life but as a hobby it's great and you meet so many interesting people on the forums. As everyone says just keep your priorities straight.

    Be still, my beating heart!!!

Did I just read your post correctly, Nakia - you are over 50?! If so, then, at 44, I am no longer the oldest regular (or semi-regular) posting SP member!!! :D

And also if so, where the heck were you when this topic was going on? :p

Nakia - it has been scientifically verified that Splunge is indeed the oldest regular poster on the BoM.

    @DHB: :lol:
@Sydax: as a 15 year old I feel rather wet behind the ears posting here, but with what little wisdom I have been bestowed with, I'd advise you not to give up on something you like to do - be this bungee-jumping, PC gaming, or knitting woolen sweaters...
I game for at least an hour a day on school days, or for 8 hours at a time during vacations, I rarely watch TV, gaming is what I *like* to do so I do it.
Now of course as an adult there are responsibilities that I don't have to deal with yet, but relaxing and having fun is also important, and if that is what you get from gaming, than by all means go ahead - and let no-one tell you otherwise.
Doing what one likes to do is imperative for having a happy life, IMHO anyway.
    Keep the faith :holy:

I agree that Splunge is the oldest Regular poster since I don't post regularly. I may visit but don't always post. But I am a supporter of SP and it is one of my two favorite boards. So Splunge can have the Oldest Regular Poster title but I claim the Oldest Suporter Title at least for now.

Sorry Splunge, when this topic started I was off building Viking Villages and moding their forum. Things are slow there. Also I think the cat ate one of my BG II disks and Ican't install it on my new PC.

I agree that you are never too old to play video/computer games but I also think you have to be responsible with your life. For the "elders" who are gamers, maybe it is actually a better suited recreation for them because they do have the time and they aren't busy raising kids or trying to get an education. If they are low income then they don't have to travel anywhere for their recreation and the same goes for seniors with mobility problems.

I think the problem with video gaming happens when it becomes an addiction and gets in the way of spending time with family and taking care of responsibilities. I know more than one person who has lost a marriage as a result of computer addiction. And anyone who has been married knows that when you lose a marriage you lose a lot more with it. I also know someone who spends so much time on the computers that he looks like a vampire. It can't be healthy.
