Well that is nice to know at least. I will keep online Armor in mind just in case it becomes necessary. I originally used Zone Alarm on Windows XP and don't remember any issues. I have not had any issues since I jumped to Windows 7. Actually, I kind of like it with Windows 7. I have the settings pretty much asking permission to allow any outside files. I feel safest this way and it makes my wife think a bit as well before clicking away, which is known for!

Yea, the problem is this would happen completely silently, not due to blocking any program or any event notice. So for a long time I thought the router or the modem was the problem, when in fact it was ZA all along.

Back when Windows 9X was current or at least widely used, ZoneAlarm was by far the best free personal firewall. Now in the last few years since they've expanded to be a more "complete protection" package, it has gone down the tubes. It is also less important if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7.

I myself couldn't make it efficient if I hadn't had college courses on firewalls and computer security. The average user would find it causes the occasional problem and slows down their computer more than it should since they wouldn't understand half the tweaks needed to make it run well.

I should also add that my information is from late 2009 as I got frustrated, uninstalled it, and haven't tried it since. Unless you count the outdated copy installed on the Windows 98SE side of my Windows 98SE/XP dual-boot machine that I use as my print server and to play old games like the Infinity Engine games, Final Fantasy 7&8, or Pool of Radiance 2:RoMD (too afraid to uninstall it because of the infamous bug, and too afraid to try it on a modern system).
