Well, I'm not good with simple yes or no answers, but what Nakia said was right. Thanks.

Is it just me, or does this thread now have almost nothing to do with "bashing atheists"?

What started as a debate over the perceived oppression of atheists, has turned into an apologia for the LDS church.

Maybe the "Designated Religion Argument" thread might be better suited to carry on this discussion...besides, I wanted to hear more about how atheists sleep well at night and employ no "acts of faith" in daily living.

Or Gnarff...you could always start a new thread "Ask a Melchizidek..."

I sleep just fine at night, except when my dog snores.

Everytime I go through an intersection it is an act of faith the other drivers will actually stop for the red light -- drivers in Chicago seem to think as long as it was green when they first saw it....

And it's also an act of faith that that strange sound at night is really just your dog.

Yes! Let's hear from the atheists. We have heard plenty from the religious side. Atheists speak up and tell us how you know that the creaking noise you hear in the walls is just the settling of the house.

Bah. So anything that you can't see with your eyes requires an act of faith then? Your other senses like hearing aren't good enough? You might as well say that it's an act of faith that you believe that what you see is really there.

You don't have to be an atheist to ascribe previously experienced phenomena to a known cause.

It seems that that's the direction that the questions have taken...

In my personal day-to-day life I've never noticed people being "bashed" for a lack of religious belief. (Or generally for their religious beliefs either) Personal beliefs just aren't a normal topic of conversation.
Bashing only seems to occur when people try to impose their own version of morality on other peoples lives. For some reason this tends to be the more strongly religious types as a function of their religion. On the other hand, it can not be attributed to "Atheism", but to an individuals own beliefs and actions.
