Damn. That's irritating. I killed the handmaiden but didn't think to search the corpse. Is it an amazing mace and armour you find or just an average set?

I think the armor is a magic platemail or the like while the mace is a +2(?) that does poison damage, but it's really useful when you've given someone else than Viconia the mace of distruption +2.

I'm doing the Viconia romance for the first time and I'm a bit afraid that it might be progressing too fast, next dialogue is going to be the handmaiden and the Yochol, and I'm only in the Underdark. Am I in trouble?

    @ Nocturnal Nomad

They didn't do it because it was not their mission to do so. As stated in ToB, AO himself wanted no intervention from the gods in the Bhaalspawn Prophecy. The original Bhaalspawn were meant to grow and fulfill their destiny. And the last surviving one from these originals, would then decide what to do with the power.

As for the Solar's nature, the one that is counceling you in ToB is certainly more aligned towards good than evil, as is proven by her last words during the mortal / godhood question in the end of ToB. I say again, I very much doubt you wouldn't have been notified in the end of ToB should your child be slaughtered with the release of possible Bhaal-taint within them. As it goes against the nature of BG2. In my opinion at least.

    *potential spoilers*

I honestly don't think that the Solar - or anyone else, for that matter - would need to kill your child for the removal of any Bhall-essence it may have recieved from you.
One the one side, it was very simple for Imoen to give up hers to the Solar when given the choice, and if you choose the "I'm a mortal" ending, the Solar could've easly transfered any essence from the babe to Amelyssan (sp?) before she had her locked away.
On the other hand, if you choose the "I'm a god" ending, the game never makes a mention of your possible child, since it plays the "in party" ending for the character, instead of the "in romance" ending. It would be the same as if you never romanced anyone. Even if you choose to romance Anomen, it's switches to the "in party" ending for him if you become a god, even though you're the one who's carrying the child.

Do you mean the PC epilogue or that of the NPC that you had the baby with? The PC epilogue stays the same whether you romance or not, that is true. You do find out what happens to the kid, however, if you read your romance partner's epilogue.

I'm quite amazed that noone has mentioned that you get about 100000 experience for <charname> somewhere along the Jaheira romance.

So by the look of things, the Jaheira romance yields some pretty decent bonuses (Jaheira gets her harper pin and the PC gets 100,000 XP) whereas the others yield very little.

No wonder Jaheira's so popular. ;)

    @Foradasthar

Yeah, you may be right. I'm not too sure about their alignment though, I'd rather think of them as true neutral.

For the child issue, not to go too far :yot: , would it not fall under the same power category as that dragon Bhaalspawn(name escapes me) who had the offspring. I mean, it is not a first for a Bhaalspawn to, well, spawn.

It also makes her immune to electricity, bestows permanent non-detection, and gives +5 to saving throws vs spells.

The Handmaiden's Mace does deliver poison damage, but it can only be used by evil clerics. If you change Viconia's alignment in ToB, she will not be able to use it from that point forward.

It's more than that. Nobody mentioned it, however, because you don't have to romance Jaheira to get that experience or the Harper Pin.

How do you get it then? I've played through the entirety of SOA and TOB and Jaheira has never been given her Harper's Pin and I've never had an XP bonus. Do you have to do certain quests to achieve it?

IIRC, you need a really high Reputation, and a harper will randomly appear late in thegame and give it to you.

I actually had a much easier time doing the entirety of Jaheira's Harper quests whenever I don't romance her.

If you rush through the game, you'll never get the resolution of the quest.

Does romancing Aerie, with the kid and all, bring down her/your adventuring career(s)?

I can't imagine Aerie, with child, battling dragons and demons.

[IMG] Actually the armour from Viconia's romance isn't platemail. In my opinion it is the best armor available in SoA to Fighter-Mages and Thieves, but, as I found out recently, only characters of evil alignment may use it, so its value for me goes down a bit.
