[IMG] I agree Silverblade. But I have a very(not) advanced theory.

    1. Sees a great topic to post in.

    Erebus:
I don't know if Nyx is a Greek deity, but I do know that Niks (pronounced the same) is Dutch for Nothing. Maybe this person wanted to honor his name by posting 'Nyx'. :p

(Niks isn't official Dutch, but used by 99% of the Dutch people in stead of 'Niets')

I heard in school and on websites that Nyx was the daughter of Chaos and his brother was Erebus, which meant darkness. (If you don't believe me, lookit up on the net)

    After a little research:
Nyx was the deity, who represented night. According to Hesiodus' "Theogony" Nyx was born of Chaos and she was the mother of smaller deities like Aithir, Imera etc. In some rhapsodies it is mentioned that she was born of Phanitas. Also, it is mentioned that she was respected even by Zeus and that her influence was based to her phophetic powers. According to the oldest orphic traditions Nyx was the fundamental force. There was an altar dedicated to her in the temple of Demetra in the city of Pergamus, although there were not many worshippers of her especialy in the classical times.
Erebus was the place where the dead go. According to Homer it was the dark place between the surface of the earth and Hades. Ancient greeks believe that Erebus was the place of the sinners but it was, also, the place where the pious go in order to be purified before they go to the Elysian Fields. Also, it was considered to be the home of Persefone and Erynies. In Hesiodus' "Theogony" Erebus was the simbling of Nyx and he gave birth to Cerberus and Ekatonheires (I don't know their english or the latin name, they were giants who had 100 hands).

Well, you people got me to post. I vaguely remember signing up. But I've had some connection problems and a lot of personal problems, so I kind of forgot  . But I'm here now, so I'll try to make up for it.

Some people join just to see a particular thread and then just forget to ever come back. Some people lose their passwords, and they gave a dummy address, so they can't ever come back. People can die, get married to a domineering hag or jerk who demands all of their time, systems crash . . . . . the list of reasons for not posting are endless.

Some of those names were sweet. I especially liked Deranged Donut!

I haven't been here as long as most of the veteran posters, but I can only recall ONE member dying.

Of course, that may be the only one whose passing was announced.

    Now I feel bad. :(

    Mathetais,
It crossed my mind, since I'm a big fan of Norse mythology. But I thought Alexander the Great is better. And since Alexander is my real name...

Actually the name is already taken, twice! (Ragnarok - 0 posts and The Ragnarok - 1 post).

If someone really wanted it with the ck that is available but I have never seen Ragnarok spelt that way before. Of course there are so many spelling variations in Norse translations that I wouldn't surprise me to see a ck spelling.

    Gotterdammerung IS still available!

Hmm... IF I change my nick, it'll be "Alexander Konungr". For those who don't know, konungr means king.

Who died? And when? How? Where?

Well, the first time I got here and registered was because I needed some help for BG. I first became a regular visitor lately.
