Oh i think there will be WAY more mods for NwN than for BG2(easier to make them). Eventualy all games will go online so Neverwinter is on the right way i think. :D
But still i just cant belive how could the same designers that made BG2 SP , how could they make such a lousy SP for NwN compared to BG.
Still NwN single player will be better becouse of HUGE mods as TDD

Gothmog, I'm uncertain whether you're agreeing with me or not. When Bioware released NWN, they had two crowds to contend with. Those that loved the story and plot of the BG series, and those who are fans of Diablo 2 and Dungeon Siege. They tried to make their campaign appealing to both. I'd say they succeeded as well as possible. The SP campaign was a bonus though. The game probably would have sold as well even if they didn't include one.

    Yeah i do agree.
But i think they should make SP more like BG, becouse diablo style can be made simply and fast in toolset :) . So perhaps even those who play more action pumped RPG (diablo) would taste real standard RPG. SP story just isnt attractive enough to make him buy new BG2.
About selling the game - in my country few have fast internet(lucky me :D ) which would allow them to play multiplayer. Withought SP half customers wouldnt buy it(my country that is).

[IMG] This is an interesting topic..
I'll compare the single playe campaigns.
The whole balders gate saga was much better, because you get to become a god..thats pretty hard to top. The NWN single player story wasnt bad though,it just wasnt as epic,it couldnt possibly be as epic as the bhaalspawn saga.
As for graphics...anyone who thinks balders gate has better graphics are out of their minds. Someone said NWN repeats textures or tilesets or somesuch,BG2 does the exact same thing, though a bit less in TOB.
Atmosphere:Balders Gate one wins this,NWN comes second and BG2 comes last. I think this simply because when I was wandering around the actual cities in Balders Gate(particularaly BG itself)it had a real city feel to it. NWN has that too,but BG2 didnt. When I was in Athkatla it seemed more a conglameration of areas then a city.
    And finally replayability?
Well, here I think its a tie. I've played BG2 well over 50 times and its always fun. I could play the NWN (still talking about the ordinary single player campaign here) probably as much.

So the BG campagin is better then the NWN one..of course thats before you take the toolset into account, and when yo do I'll say NWN is the better game because of it.

    [IMG] Here's my scoop:

I have BG2 and have played it quite a few times. As for NWN I don't have it yet because my computer is a dinosaur and I await getting a new one when I graduate in May.

I think the concept of NWN and the potential it has are its trophies. Time will tell how NWN fares. If you tunnel in on the present and NWN's dissapointing SP campaign (to the masses) you are still missing the overall big picture, which is a new generation of gaming in which you are in control of what happens. I rejoice in that, because lately I find myself becoming more and more unimpressed with the general quality of games these past few years.

So in terms of a instant gratification in gaming, BG2 wins hands down. In terms of patience, dedication, and hard work by some (people willing to make good mods) you have some shinning work, and that beats the old generation of gaming hands down.

[IMG] Blah, Just noticed it was just mentioned. Maybe I can score some points anyway.

    Party Members: BG2/NWN

well, I know the singleplayer game is a Added Bonus ,but still, they could have tried A little bit to put a bit more into the NPCs. But then again, you can make your own. So its another tie. But: NWN won't work on the computer due to my savage 4 being DownGraded in a horrible accident :(

But BG2/ToB still are cool in thier own way :)

    OOoohh! Another one!

Beasties and Lurky things : NWN
Just look at them! It has lots of forms of dragons (Including that cool shade one), All forms of spiders, it has fairies, Willowisps, Gorgons, Normal and mechanical, And lots more. But, A small problem...

    Where are the old favorites?
    Now lets see:
    • Gauths
      Beholders
      Mind flayers
      Ogrillions
      Ankhegs
Horses (Never seen a NWN pony)
      Mounds
      Xvarts
      Bunnys
      Groundhogs
They're not in NWN? Come on! We can't go without beholders/bunnys! But once again, the toolset gives you the ability to make your own, but not by much. But still NWN monsties are still more plentiful and cooler.

[IMG] I tried NWN today. I am very sad and expected much more. The graphic of the items are like a 5 year old child would have made them. And the "feeling" of BG1 lost in BGII: now the "magic", the "feeling" of the all BG series is lost, we cannot find it in NWN. Good creatures and wonderful graphic and so on, but not the real, not the old "feeling"... :(

I agree with the above 2 replies. NWN doesn't have the feeling that BG2 had, nor does it give you the feeling of accomplishment when you beat a tough fight for the first time.

Personally, I prefer the BG2 beasties to the ones in NWN. I cannot remember the last time I felt in any real danger against the monsters in NWN, while the BG2 ones, you can get that feeling. The NWN monsters are far weaker than they are in either BG2 or 3E PNP, which I did not like.
