For his stunt to be truly convincing that joker should have been water boarded 83 times like AZ, or perhaps even 183 times like KSM, in addition to the usual sleep deprivation, noise, shackling, isolation, stress positions etc. pp. ... but trifles like context would deprive his hare brained stunt of its intended relativistic value. But to his surprise, he found it harrowing? Besides, the obnoxious Christopher Hitchens also got himself water boarded and concluded with 'Believe Me, It’s Torture'. Not that it needed any of that.

But hey, thanks to Bush's merry troupe of silver tongues and the tireless efforts of right wing talking heads and bloggers water boarding has apparently become part of American popular culture, since whacky radio hosts, bloggers and ordinary lunatics approvingly start giving it a shot, not to mention that extraordinary lunatics have apparently used it for corporate team building.

By my count he made it about 7 seconds.

"Absolutely torture. If I knew it was that bad I would not have done it," he confirmed.

    Ragusa,

That was a while ago when he did that, at the height of the Bush Administration's campaign of "waterboarding is not torture". The point wasn't for the radio host to "give it a try" for the hell of it. The point was he was so convinced that it was NOT torture, that he cheerfully agreed to submit to it, just to show people that it's no big deal, and we shouldn't be getting so worked up about it. You saw how well that turned out.

    Would Jesus waterboard anyone?

". . . Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." Matthew 5:44

I don't believe that this verse forbids all war by any stretch, but once you have someone in your power, I think it's pretty safe to say that waterboarding is against this particular thought.

I was not sure about waterboarding and torture in general in the early 2000s. I am now. It's a despicable thing to do, even if they are collossal douchebags.

Well, I'm not sure about war, but it certainly seems to indicate that one should hold to one's moral standards even when one's opponents fall short of them. That's an idea that I wouldn't mind seeing acted on more often. Then again, apparently the Bible is pre-9/11 ...

I don't know ... he let one of his apostles cut off some guy's ear -- to me removing body parts is worse than waterboarding....

T2, you are a goofball. A lovable one, but a goofball nonetheless.

As for Bush, unless he is able to defend his assertion that torture saved lives, with hard, convincing evidence, he needs to shut the ____ up. I mean, it's over -- his presidency is done, it's in the record books, he should be grateful that he isn't facing tribunals, he should just vanish into history quietly -- at least as regards his torture policy, if nothing else.

I'd bet he'd really like to have Kanye West waterboarded. There are days I wouldn't mind seeing that arrogant douchebag on the table.

Maybe we could waterboard both of them at the same time, and see who confesses to time travelling to start the Holocaust first!
