Bah, if he cant take the heat he shouldnt be a ref. Frisk was and will always be a horrible ref more interested in showing off and being in the centre of attention than to referee games. He is an attention whore, wouldnt surprise me if this is just another stunt.

How they can blame the hooligans actions on Mourinho is beyond me though, is it against the rules nowadays for a coach to complain about a ref?

No, but he is directly responsible because of his lame accusations, and some investigation is in order here.

I would like to take this moment now, for this seems to be the general football thread as of late, to get your attention to a small Dutch club, called AZ Alkmaar, who, under the trainership of Co Adriaanse (keep that name in mind, he will grow big), have gained a place in the quarterfinals of the UEFA cup.

Now this may not seem a big deal but this man and the team he created have not been in the european league for over 20 years. And the good part is that this is not the first time that Adriaanse was succesfull with a mid-class team. Not three years ago he managed to get Willem II (another mid-clas dutch team) into the champions league.

If they manage to get into the half finals I give them a real chance to take this cup home.

And with a little luck they draw an english team tomorrow. Middlesbrough sounds nice although Shearer's team could use some humility.

    Good on the little club.

It's similar with Middlesborough. They are a really little side. It was only a few years ago that they were in the First Division. In the past few years they have managed to get a few players and maintain a regular place in the top half of the Premiership. I fully expect them to go out in the next round though to be honest. They can;t get much further, surely...

Newcastle United, on the other hand, are playing out of their skins right now. They've won about 8 games on the trot I think now and humiliated a decent Olympiakos side with a 7-1 aggregate score. They have the best English striker to pull on the Three Lions shirt in living memory up front and have really gained some much needed solidarity at the back. I'd expect them to beat the team they face in the next round. I think winning the UEFA cup is a bit beyond them though. It would surprise me if they managed it. However, they get the official Barmy Army goodwill gesture; I hope they win it. It would be a fantastic send off for Big Al (it's his last season before retirement... crying shame).

Well, Liverpool aren't going to win the Champions League mate, I'll tell you that for free. Chelsea might do, but they'll have to beat AC Milan to do it. It'll be between those two.

How good are these 'AZ' then Pac man? Can you really see them beating Villareal? These AZ boys better be a good bunch of lads if they are going to beat Mr. Riquelme and a rejuvinated Mr. Forlan. Good luck though ;) .

I just read the Sun newspaper, and the FA want to take the win away from Chelsea and let Barca go through because of what Mourinho said about Rijkaard going into Frisks' dressing room. Well, they have the prem if nothing else.

Co Adrinaneese is one of the most famous Dutch coaches isnt he? Hasnt he been in some bigger clubs as well? I know I know of the name and I dnot think I would if he had only coached Willem and AZ.

Football is the supreme sport, no doubt about that.

Give Barca the win? Never going to happen mate.
There's no way that will happen. They simply don't have the balls to do something as drastic as that. The legal issues involved would be mind boggling. I suspect they will ban Mourinho from the touchline which really is of little consequence, given that he can simply communicate his wishes to an assistant via radio/phone.

I must admit that I'm quite surprised UEFA have even charged them. It's good they have. We can have long winded debates about semantics, but anyone with half a brain knows Mourinho clearly insinuated that Frisk was corrupt. Gamesmanship is one thing; what Mourinho said was worthy of defamation law suit and led to top-flight referee feeling he had to quit. That's disgraceful.

The game is currently being ruined by the lack of respect for referees. Players need to learn that they can't go charging up into the face of officials every time a decision goes against them. Managers need to learn they can't accuse referees of cheating or bias just because he made a few poor decisions. Frisk did screw up in the Nou Camp but, if you want to be picky, you could argue that Collina screwed up at the Bridge. Did Barca claim Collina was corrupt after he failed to notice the blatant foul on the Barca keeper before John Terry scored? No. They have some class.

If we're going to change the culture, we have to set some examples. David Prutton's 10 match ban was a good starting point with regards to the players. Disqualifying Chelsea from the Champions League would be a harsh, but valuable lesson for cretins like Mourinho. Alas, UEFA won't have the guts.

I think it is horrible this witchhunt on SuperJosé. Isnt like he is the first coach in the history of football who complains about the ref. I see this whole affair as just another attention whore stunt from Frisk's side.

Questioning a referees ability is one thing. Insinuating that he's corrupt is something completely different. Put simply, it's defamation. I find this a little ironic because Mourinho has talked about suing the bloke who called him an 'enemy of football' (presumably for slur of character - i.e- defamation) yet is guilty of far more defamatory remarks himself. He's lucky Frisk isn't suing.

Referees make mistakes and sometimes they will go against you. Say the referee had a poor game if you must, but to accuse him of cheating is disgraceful. Beyond, the death threats thing - accusing a ref of being corrupt is just a terrible slur against their personality and professionalism. The football authorities need to do something about this. But, as I say, they don't have the bollocks to make it something severe.
